The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

It's never two days here (unless there are special religious reasons, which don't apply here). I'd say 4-5 working days is the norm, sometimes longer. -
Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

Now we test the "mettle" of the new Scottish Tories. Will they approve of a deal which gives NI extra money but denies Scotland and Wales the consequentials under the Barnett formula? A formula that Mundell has already called sacrosanct. If they vote for this, every person in Scotland who voted Tory should be ashamed of this shabby deal. Awaiting Sinn Fein... -
Form watchers should tune in to Doctors just now. Derek Fowlds is on.

William Woodson is now being reported as having died back in February. Wiki has him dead and a contributor over at Voy seems to confirm this, although at this point I haven't looked for an obit. Also narrated The Winds Of War and was the voice of J Jonah Jamieson in the 1980s cartoon series of Spider-Man. DDP pick. Read Any Good Books Lately?
YoungWillz replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I haven't read any of his stuff but the interview that the BBC did with Sebastian Barry at the Hay Literary Festival is most entertaining. On the iPlayer and apparently being shown again at 4.30pm today on the News Channel. Catch it if you can. -
Billions being spent on renewing the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, nuclear weapons. Austerity until the 2030s. Poverty levels set to rise and a never ending withdrawal from the EU which transitional period for same will continue and continue. Fishing rights to be sold to prop up the City of London. Farming subsidies diminished. A health service that will be slowly and creepingly privatised for a crappy trade deal with the US. The deportation of people who have made a home here and contributed to its success. Lack of affordable homes for the young and existing housing which people are frightened to live in. Less money for local services and schools in particular, while subsidising countries abroad with UK money. Continued terrorist attacks. Independence hasn't gone. The Scots will be crying out for it within 5 years.

Just saw that. He was also an MP.

Right I'll come out and say it. This series of Doctor Who is awesome. That is all, back to your desks...
-
Kids' TV will truly take a hammering if he goes as well. Bayldon, Noakes, Cunningham, Cant....

There's an indication I think on the English Chess forum from a chap who was in close contact chess wise with the guy and who has confirmed he was telephoned by a relative to confirm his death. I'm sure it's more a matter of time, but on that basis I'm awarding the points. They can always be taken away again you know, ages til December...
-
Right, I don't want to set a precedent here, Chessbase is a notoriously bad source. However, I have seen surrounding information which back up the obit which does technically qualify, so I'm awarding ImNotHades the points for Sarosy. Who'd have thought this one would have been so difficult?

Maybe, just maybe, hear me out, think about this.... Philip had retired from public duties to take on the role of the new Doctor Who! (No, I haven't been drinking....)

Chris Benoit was swinging from the ropes this day 10 years ago, aged 40.

I thought it was Bert and Ernie. Maybe I looked closer...

Ok, with a week to go there are a lucky seven contestants. I'm going to follow the Hare's and donate a crisp ten pound note to the winner's charity of choice, if that helps. Yes it is going to be an expensive Christmas, but I'll feel damn good about it. I'd like ideally to get a minimum of a final table of 9, but more welcome. I've hired the croupiers, bought the chips, so join the pack.

Have to chuckle, my entire team from Round 1 are all still alive. And ready to take the field come January 2018 again.

DDP opportunist pick Christopher Tester, shot in the head in Antigua in December 2016, now blind. But alive. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-40351998
