Not really when you think about it. My grandparents would all have been brought up during the 1920s and 1930s when there was much more freedom and positivity after the end of WWI. I have no idea about my great-grandparents though, I think they all died quite young as my parents didn't really know them. So the job of the Church was to show restraint, helped along by WWII and rationing. But I do know the theatre was a huge part of their lives.
-
Oh no my grandfather was a minister. Loved Burns Nights and showing off, even pulled enough of a crowd and a collection to build a fully operational theatre in the Church where he preached (still there today). I believe by the time I came out both granddads were dead and both grandmothers were suffering with what would now be called Alzheimers. So all beyond caring, I'd say.

It was 50 years ago today...

Thus beating the new rules on personal care/house grab. That inheritance should shield her from austerity... -
I get it very much from my heterosexual parents who loved all those 1950s/1960s shows. And my very strict Presbyterian theatre going grandparents. You just aren't human if you don't like or identify with at least one musical...

Loved how they said save your applause for the last speaker, and because it was Amber "Magic Money Tree" Rudd, they didn't. The only member of the panel to be openly scoffed at again. Well, apart from Paul "Britain First" Nuttall, a climate change denier as well as a racist it turns out who doesn't want our country swamped by immigrants, but happy for it to be swamped by the ocean. I said ages ago hung Parliament, I stand by that. -

Reportedly dead already. http://monsterkidclassichorrorforum.yuku.com/topic/66935/Elena-Verdugo#.WS71TOSGMjV Are there many survivors from the Form Guide?

Personal anecdote. My first secondary school just outside Sheffield was divided into 4 houses. (Mine was Phoenix based, the red house). It was new, so there was only a first year with the run of the place. We had a competition and our house won. All the houses then were treated to a showing of Bugsy Malone in the assembly hall, and we as winners also got a trip to the cinema to see Grease. It was utterly fantastic on the big screen with the huge speakers belting out the choons. A tear came during Hopelessly Devoted To You, I'll freely admit. Of course, I was more interested in Greased Lightning, silver suited mechanics were my thing for ages afterwards....
