We've normally had a major death just after the entrants for the week have been announced so far in 2017. Nowt. There's some breaking news a-coming, maybe?

Westminster parties haven't given us much choice have they? Thanks for the banter back and forth LFN, as they say there's no point in listening to people who agree with you all the time, we only learn from other folks' disagreements and debate (without resorting to sprinting through the courtyards of Westminster with a weapon). And I really hope there is a greater Great Britain sometime in the future, if not for me and you, then for your grandkid at least. I wonder what the Government will do next to start us off? -

Hmmm. I was talking about those fucking millionaires in Parliament. The ones with inherited wealth. The ones who are changing the lives and shaping attitudes for generations. The ones who have never had a job in the real world. The ones who say they know better while fucking you up the arse. Interesting you focus on the business community rather than the politicians. Of course people flock here, of course millions of people are employed. Pay them a higher wage on decent conditions (rather than a living wage which isn't one at all) and everyone flourishes. Flood the market with poorly paid people and lots of them who work for peanuts and your tax take is less, your productivity is less. And the millionaires employing them are finding time to remove even more tax take by using every loophole imaginable. Flood the country with that kind of person sure (and it's increased burden on the public sector), but expect there not to be enough money to pay for what I and others may have aspired to 40 years ago. I'm interested in the future of aspiration. Here's what seems to be aspiration these days. A job that pays £7 an hour. A job that might be there tomorrow, maybe not, but maybe the day after. A home...good luck with that on those wages. A pay freeze for eight years and looking like wages will hardly rise until 2030 (and that's without Brexit, continued austerity until 2030 was predicted 4 years ago). Working until you drop. An old age (if you're lucky) with no care. You are right LFN. It is a live for today society, but we can't have that and aspiration. After all what is there to aspire to tomorrow? And that's the world these political millionaires are continuing to shape. A society that lives from waking up until going to sleep every day. Maybe not a good time to mention that the recent Budget increased the amount given to overseas aid while equally decreasing the spend on education, local government, etc. Talk all you like about the UK public sector, but the political millionaires are taking what little tax take there is and spending it abroad rather than here. But hey, I'm all right Jack... -

LFN, LFN, LFN. I'm not moaning, honest. Just pointing out a story that's getting buried under terrorist coverage. I don't give two hoots about how everyone lives for today or not (a problem in itself), nor do I care about kids futures (not got any), the roads (don't drive), or even the weather. They can't touch me anymore. But I do point out things that happen politically and appreciate the divergent views on here. It's not up to me to solve the issues, so don't ask me what I'd do. I like a rant at the establishment, their hypocrisy, their idiocy. Doesn't everyone? I'm just sad that in the sixth biggest economy in the world, we are still talking about poverty, still talking about avoiding taxes, still on that Thatcherite road of I'm all right Jack and sod the lot of you. And it's fucking millionaires telling you you can't have a job for life, you can't have a job where you know if you are working one day to the next, you can't have that pension you paid contributions for, you can't have a chance at buying that house because they're out of reach and you can take a hike in prices without a pay rise. And those same millionaires can't even keep their promises in a manifesto. It's all good stuff and if they did a better job, I'd have nothing to put here. -
Think it was if Scotland voted for independence, they would move in that direction LFN. They voted quite highly to remain part of the UK in 2014 though...

Now I'm a bit more awake, those who voted to "fuck the European Court of Human Rights" in the charming phrase of our beloved LFN have had their votes wasted because of this manifesto pledge being broken. Note that Amber Rudd carefully avoided using the phrase "human rights" in her earlier statement, probably because she doesn't believe in them at all. Meantime, Government considering yet another deferral of pension rights by raising the state pension age. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39352654 At this rate, possibly some of your kids will be working until they drop. And they won't even be a drummer for a world famous band... -

Theresa's statement on today's incident mentioned Human Rights. That would mean the manifesto pledge to repeal the Human Rights Act and possibly withdraw from the International Convention, Theresa? Another pledge which you have broken. And which means the UK remains in breach of several decisions of the European Court on Human Rights. Yep, still a capable bunch, this Government.... -

I try to keep it political here. A lot of my friends are English, I lived there for two years and some of my best holidays have been there. It's the system, man, the system. -
Really? I thought as a spoiler it would be ok? Anyway, I try not to bother you guys too much so hopefully I can keep it, it's my record of picks. Oh and thanks for the change.

So was Chuck Berry. I thought he wasn't planning on seeing his 90th on April 16?
