Oh, that's sad. He was the best long distance speed skater when I first got interested in that sport. His Dutch competitors, Kees Verkerk (72) and Ard Schenk (70) are still with us, but also getting on a bit. I see Peter Nottet who won bronze in Maier's event seems to be with us also.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
YoungWillz replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
Yes. Every time I see him on something I think "hang on, didn't he die? Oh no that was James Last" then I realise James Last is still alive too. Aye, but there's loads online of late about Last's health (which isn't critical but is bad enough to have made the current big tour his farewell jaunt) At least there won't be any confusion over the Last/Galway matter, nice way to remember is Last was first! -

The name Jessica always conjures up one thing to me. I'm now imagining this Shakespearean epic being done in the style of Some Mothers Do 'Ave Them.

How about some classic MGM Musicals? Nelson Eddy isn't after his girl, it's what Jeanette MacDonald is wearing in The Girl Of The Golden Vest. Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland do the show right there in the rehearsal room in Stroke Up The Band. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello offer cracker based snacks to Kathryn Grayson down Mexico way in Rio Ritz. Judy Garland and Angela Lansbury fight the sexism of Ray Bolger to become Hell's Angels in The Harley Girls. Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse find love and music while working in the back room of a haberdashers in Silk Stackings. Petula Clark changes Peter O'Toole's sexuality in Goodbye, Mr Chaps.

New Here And Just Saying Hello
YoungWillz replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Welcome! I've only been here a few months myself, so I'm not best placed to advise on deadpools (most of the competitions on here seem to start in January and last until December), although I think there is a Rotten Dead Pool (separate site) on which someone can advise you better. If I can give one word of advice, it's search the forums before you post a death. That way you can ensure (a) you might end up posting in the most appropriate thread, and ( b ) you won't post the same death over and over. This advice is almost universally disregarded by many here, but as long as you are first, it doesn't hurt so bad. Well, it does actually, but what's the point in arguing? All the very best. -
