He has to deal with sponsorship issues, political pressure, the legal authorities and try and root out corruption (if he is so minded). Came across this little gem when I was reading Plato on the loo the other day: "Take a doctor who has been given the entire body to treat. Will he ever get good results if he neglects the individual limbs and tiny parts in spite of being willing and able to look after the major organs?...Nor yet will helmsmen or generals, not statesmen or anybody of that ilk, succeed in major day-to-day matters if they neglect occasional details." The Laws The strain of juggling everything he has to, I expect no more than a year or two.

Can't link directly to the obituary page, but The Stage reports Eileen Essell's death. Wiki has her passing away in February. Can't find any other news, but I'll keep looking, at the moment, lost. https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/obituaries/ Managed to get the page: https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/obituaries/2015/obituary-eileen-essell/

^^ Former, Dr Z, I gave that all up to become a carer for my brother (phew, what a drop in income that was!). Now I'm looking for work after he passed away. Understand the chill, I'm no fan of the profession any more. -

Wally Cassell, actor in White Heat and National Velvet, 103. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/wally-cassell-dead-white-heat-798730 Fun Fact: Mickey Rooney was his best man. Edit: Wiki has him at 100. But HR seems to have the inside gen, so I've gone with them unless they update their story (like they have done previously!). BBC news just reported live that Jack Warner, former FIFA vice-president, has been taken to hospital after a couple of nights in jail. Update: Seems to have made an amazing recovery: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/fifa/11637602/Fifa-corruption-crisis-Jack-Warner-out-dancing-hours-after-leaving-prison-on-medical-grounds.html

Indeed. While I suppose two people can be half-siblings and stepsiblings at the same time, the words express two quite different concepts. While we're on the subject: Dutch has no word for sibling. The concept is expressed as "broer of zus". Similarly, Dutch isn't particularly good at expressing family relations beyond first cousin ("neef" or "nicht", Dutch has different words for male and female cousins). Fine gradations like third cousin twice removed cannot be expressed in Dutch, such relations are folded in the words "achterneef" or "achternicht". To complicate matters, the words "neef" and "nicht" are also used for nephew and niece. Finally a question: my grandmother was born from her father's second marriage, who remarried after becoming a widower. From the first marriage she had a few half-siblings. Her father died when she was 10 or so, and her mother remarried and had children with her second husband as well, also half-siblings of my granny. The children of her father's first marriage and of her mother's second weren't half-siblings. Dutch has no word to express such a relation. Does English? If I follow you correctly (and as a former lawyer, I have experience of decoding instructions!) - not as far as I am aware. The children of father's first and mother's second are not related by blood or marriage in any way (the mother's remarriage reclassifying said mother as a former stepparent) and as such would have been free to inter-marry if they so desired. Legally they are no relation, though they would be free to describe themselves for familial purposes on an informal basis howsoever they choose. -

As deputy DLPM I would just say don't think a Greavesy thread would get much action on it. He's already mentioned in the football thread. As for Sepp, feel free to open one. If he loses the election, I think I will. Bound to go downhill quicker than his countrymen's skiers.

As Deathlist's Culture Secretary, I feel it incumbent on me to make a statement regarding the FIFA scandal. Why aren't threads open for Sepp Blatter and Jimmy Greaves? From the desk of YW.
