Twitter going crazy. Dynamite Kid reportedly died this morning. Link if I can find a reliable one. Hmm, it's his birthday today - maybe it's one of those hoaxes?

  7. Finally finished my review of 1987. So here's a Top 30 of 1987 as promised. (I've had to rule out some great choons in favour of others just because they hit the same spot on the chart - not easy to do, you may have your own favourites!). Won't be another for a while as I've quite a few years stored for my theme teams. Anyway, enjoy listening to anything you haven't heard before: 1987 #01. It's A Sin - Pet Shop Boys #02. Fairytale Of New York - Pogues/Kirsty MacColl #03. Love In The First Degree - Bananarama #04. Almaz - Randy Crawford #05. It Doesn't Have To Be This Way - Blow Monkeys #06. Labour Of Love - Hue And Cry #07. The Music Of The Night - Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford #08. Funky Town - Pseudo Echo #09. Ever Fallen In Love - Fine Young Cannibals #10. Real Wild Child (Wild One) - Iggy Pop #11. The Right Thing - Simply Red #12. Bridge To Your Heart - Wax #13. Wanted Dead Or Alive - Bon Jovi #14. Land Of Confusion - Genesis #15. Paid In Full - Eric B and Rakim #16. It's Tricky - Run DMC #17. Dreamin' - Status Quo #18. Prime Mover - Zodiac Mindwarp and The Love Reaction #19. Promised You A Miracle - Simple Minds #20. Jack The Groove - Raze #21. The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades - Timbuk3 #22. French Kissin' In The USA - Debbie Harry #23. IOU - Freeez #24. I'd Rather Go Blind - Ruby Turner #25. The Game - Echo And The Bunnymen (No #29 so I've picked another #28) #30. Victory - Kool And The Gang
  8. Now, I'm not going to object if someone actually has the gumption to stick up a Theme Team in the DDP for the offenders, now that Spade has provided a handy list! Could simply be called "Featuring..."

    Star Wars Deaths

According to this, Salo Gardner who was in several of the franchise films has died: https://indiemacuser.co.uk/2018/12/02/star-wars-actor-passes-away/ Started off as a dancer in Summer Holiday it seems!
  14. Excellent work guys, wouldn't have known where to start! It would be a good quiz question. Obviously I haven't been paying attention in class. I think there's a lot that are misleading, because the featured artist was in fact a member of the band but that doesn't get away from the fact that this featuring nonsense goes further back than I thought. You have to laugh at Galaxy featuring Phil Fearon though...as Galaxy was Phil Fearon!
  15. Ok, I've come for a posting tiff, and I'm welcoming contradiction here. I'm guessing @Spade_Cooley is probably my best bet for the information actually, but all are welcome. Now as you know, I'm compiling lists for my Top Of The Pops theme teams for the future, if I survive that long, and I'm currently on 1987. Now one thing that has bugged me for years is the prediliction of artists to use the word "Featuring" (or even worse "ft.") on the credit for a song. In actual fact, it's probably the death of chart music for me, especially when the vast majority of choons have a featured artist. So I think back in the day you might have so and so "and" someone else, or "with" or some such. So I've often wondered...who's to blame?? So I think I've found the first UK Top 30 hit to use the offending term. Which is "The Real Thing" by Jellybean featuring Steven Dante. Now I actively seek contradiction here. Does anyone know of an earlier charting single to use this on the actual credit of the original release? Obviously, I think this is more a US thing and must have come from there. There, I've said it. Prove me wrong. And while doing so, listen to the number:

    (C)Rappers

Gosh, I'm almost tempted by Tekashi 69 whoever he is. "Gangsta checked" in the jail and transferred to new facility. https://allhiphop.com/rumors/tekashi69-gets-g-checked-by-crips-upon-arrival-to-prison-6t9ZW5KxPUix033KalQDGA/ Is he safe anywhere? And more importantly, will he obit? I think Metro says "Och Aye The Noo".

    DL Dead Pools

Wasn't that many as I recall. I had to clear my inbox for the Poker entries in June. So, I dunno, I'd guess at around 5 came in in the last 24 hours for submission. Entrants on here are generally quite good, especially when they might get someone ruled out as inadmissible - I recall a convo with gcreptile on that, so the entrants after that (Nos 26 - 30) were running close to the wire.

I've always secretly coveted a Christmastime death for her. Just so I can use "That's the end of your reign, dear".
  24. Every name on my lists is still breathing. No surprises there, ha! However, as Debbie Reynolds and Greville Janner proved in the past, this is unlikely to be the case come Christmas Day. Lawdy, this gets so finerckety....
