Hard to tell on a webcam to be honest. Sounded ok and always looked a bit dishevelled in the commentary box truth be told. Looking back at photos on Google maybe a bit thin? But odd angle on a webcam. This was him on GMB in 2017.

    U.S. Political Figures over 85

Programme date stamp at the end of the closing credits is 2019 (MMIX) so one would assume around a year ago?

    U.S. Political Figures over 85

Just to say, in the seemingly the most appropriate thread, that Walter Mondale made a brief, unexpected appearance on Episode 2 of the BBC documentary 'Castro vs the World' and seemed in fine health for a 92 year old. Spoke well, clearly got all his marbles at the moment and looked healthy enough. Doesn't look like he's suffered any lasting effects from the bloody nose Reagan gave him in the 1984 election. Around the 8-minute mark if you want to check it out (but I do warn you, it's only a couple of sentences): https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p08llzqj/cuba-castro-vs-the-world-series-1-2-the-charm-offensive

Don't be giving him ideas, that would be a new way to try and seed interest in his non-tension eliminations. "The act leaving the X Factor and going straight to the gulag is........................................................................Rak Su!" (I googled the band name...)

    Simon Cowell

Similar thing for me. I was never really into any of those shows (bar being blown away by Leona Lewis when she won) but my ex girlfriend used to watch it - I was done the year he absolutely pilloried Jedward week after week and then, when they were in the bottom two, he sent home a young jazz singer called Lucie Jones because he thought she was a bit boring. Clear then that any pretence at a singing competition was done, it was all about headlines and ratings and over a decade later, he's still trying to flog the same dead horse and ITV keep letting him do it.

I'd be more open to believing this if we had the undoctored footage alongside it too. Strikes me as unlikely that wouldn't have been picked up in any of the actual footage.

Although I picked the categories, Biblio is very much in charge of this, so I have a rules-based question following more Eurovision research than I care to admit to. You say obits are quite loose, akin to Deathrace but Deathrace requires English language so is that the criteria here? If so, I assume this posted recently by Spade in the Curse of Eurovision thread would count but this posted by Whitehouse in the same thread would not (as it's in Dutch)? Just so I know... (Without looking, thinking about it, would most not at least get an English mention on one of the Eurovision sites which would count? Just thinking out loud...)

    Beirut Explosion

Just caught up on this thread and a couple of things to throw into the mix: 1. The latest story on the BBC website quotes specialists from Sheffield University estimating the blast to be approximately one tenth the power of the bomb that exploded in Hiroshima and "unquestionably one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history". 2. Currently catching up on 'Chernobyl' which I missed last year (excellent if you haven't seen it) and the immediate arresting of the port authorities is eerily similar to immediate efforts of the local party officials to blame low-level plant workers for the disaster rather than taking responsibility. Given Lebanon's fractious state currently, this is, to put it mildly, unlikely to be helpful for the government there.

You're in the clear there, time, @Bibliogryphon picked cricket in the first round! And to keep it in the collective consciousness: can an admin change the title to include 'III'. Thank you.

Can you imagine if you'd picked him too and you'd been right? We could have been waiting another 5 years+ for this round to end!

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo 2

Surprised at this - thought he'd give it a go this season but maybe he feels he's taken them as far as he can, or maybe he can see the writing on the wall with Ryan Fraser and Nathan Ake. Saying that, 1 down, 19 to go...wonder where he'll end up next?

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo 2

Team submitted! If it's done next season, I may need a cull, but if it lasts into the season after, I don't think I'll be far off. Depends on a few people's starts to the season...

Still planning to submit a team (with no great amount of science behind it). Can I have "Whoever Watford appoint as their next manager" on my list? Or do they have to be in post today?

Except RBG won't die from a disease she doesn't believe exists caught at a rally doctors said shouldn't be happening. Or maybe she will and then you'll be able to say I told you so! Wouldn't hold you breath though...

    Olivia De Havilland

I was having a look at this list after you posted it and wondering how many more were left that I'd heard of. Decent number in the 50s but if we stick to 40s and earlier I'd say the biggest name is Dame Angela Lansbury, given she was still acting on stage a few years ago and was Oscar-nominated as far back as 1944 for Gaslight. Always got a soft spot too for Glynis Johns, if only for Mary Poppins - votes for women!

Couple of quick questions on this: 1. Do they have to be sacked/resign or does moving on to another club count, e.g. Ian Evatt leaving Barrow to go to Bolton would've counted as him no longer being at Barrow? 2. The game kicks off next Saturday, does that mean managers sacked after then but during the close season count towards our total and aren't replaced by subs?

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy: Main Cast

Far be it from me to pre-empt Mr Bearer's response, but I suspect the general answers to your points would be: 1. BTTF Part III came out in 1990, SW Ep. I came out in 1999, 6 months earlier for the first or later for the second and they're not in the same decade, and comparing like for like it's 15 years either way 1985-1999 or 1990-2005, which is significant. 2. If we're going to have an OT thread and a prequel thread, then I look forward to the sequel thread, only then will we have completed the set (Max von Sydow's dead, so we've already got a strike!) And before you say they're too recent, we have a Harry Potter thread and the last one of those (even discounting Fantastic Beasts) came out just 4 years before the first SW sequel. 3. Not a big fan of the BTTF thread, mainly because while the movies are enjoyable I've never really got their cult status, but I can vaguely understand a thread for them given one of the two leads is over 80 and the other has a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Anyway, I'm all for record keeping, useful to have lists of possible choices and somewhere to strike people off as they fall, but if you really wanted to do this, couldn't you have put it in the other thread given its title is just 'Star Wars Deaths'? There are only 5 names on your list older than the youngest person who's died so far (Peter Mayhew) and of those, 2 of them are covered by the OT anyway (as are 2 of the 4 deaths from the prequel trilogy too). Also: this is in the Dead Pools section, not the Deathlist Forum. Anyway, this is probably longer than Paul's eventual response.

I'm confused what you're suggesting? Are you saying Prince Philip isn't who he claims to be?

Likewise, while BoJo was in a serious condition, his move to ICU was seen as precautionary (unless we were all lied to, but when have the British government ever been guilty of that? )
