He also was on some well known King Crimson albums, most notably, Red. Indeed - he and the other band members are even pictured on the front cover! But I'm sure you know that already!

Been mentioned before but the health of John Wetton (musician in Asia / UK / King Crimson) - who already has metastatic cancer - has taken a turn for the worse, as I wrote in this other thread: https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/8598-close-to-the-end/?p=279292 I can't see him being alive this time next year, so IMHO would be an excellent pick for 2017, and his notability / obitability is without question due to his work with Asia alone, never mind all the other bands.

On his Twitter account John Wetton reveals that he nearly died from sepsis: He is clearly not a well man. Metastatic cancer and now sepsis - combined with a history of alcoholism, heart disease and diabetes. The only question in my mind is whether the committee will have the sense to include him on the 2017 list.

Jack Chick dead according to Facebook https://www.facebook.com/chicktracts/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED Waiting on a more reliable source but seems legit Funny that him and Tom Hayden should die on the same day, they seem to occupy very different ends of the political spectrum, and America's culture war...

This is not so much about a bigot as it is about a relation of one... But does anyone know if Nick Griffin's father Edgar (b. 1921) is still alive?

They're just a bunch of clowns really, in the derogatory sense of the term. And 'killer' is a misnomer - they aren't actually killing anyone. Yet.

Haven't heard that song in quite a few years, thanks. Maybe not an immediate demise, but age is definitely catching up with him. Would you like to bet on him being alive five years from now? I wouldn't.
-
Never mind that, have you read the links I posted? I think you'll find you're wrong. And yes of course I've heard his music.

Searched for a thread about the Godfather of Gloom himself, but didn't find one despite many mentions in threads on the forum. As he's 82 now I think he's overdue for getting his own thread. I was inspired to make the thread following reading this report: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/oct/12/leonard-cohen-i-am-ready-to-die This article links to another TL;DR interview in the New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/10/17/leonard-cohen-makes-it-darker He does have a new album out soon, but by the sounds of things his health has declined considerably - he was touring as recently as 2013 but the article says that he'll never tour again as he is understandably too old.
-
Yeah he can't last forever. Don't think he's in immediate danger but one to keep an eye on

She will be a good candidate for next year - definitely highly Deathlist-able. At this stage, I'd like to reiterate my belilef that Deathlist is not about wanting anyone to die, but about wanting to predict death correctly... there's a huge difference. Or am I missing something?

Beaten to it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-37606356 Pretty amazing really what he went through, and lived a long life and wrote a book about his experiences.

You can't go more than 5 minutes nowadays without hearing about ol' Trumpie! News, internet, radio, TV, it's like the whole world is obsessed with the man right now!

John Wetton appears not to have tweeted in almost two weeks - should we be worried? Seemed to be constantly tweeting almost every day then just silence. He is supposed to be performing at a 2017 prog festival in February in the US. Let's just hope he makes it that long... I think he would be a good pick for the committee to consider for 2017, and definitely obit-worthy due to his work with Asia.
-
No, we will certainly not. I knew at the start of this year that the choices made by the committee were shit, and unless there are rapid changes in the next two and a half months, this year will go down in history as being one of the worst years for the Deathlist in recent memory. One of the worst recent years for the Deathlist! Despite the fact that 2016 has been the year of celebrity deaths!

I believe the term is that they threw in the towell So wrong, but too funny!

Canadian-American folk singer and radio broadcaster Oscar Brand dies aged 96 (and a hit for my own list): https://www.wnyc.org/story/70-years-oscar-brands-folksong-festival/

That guy is clearly a gerontophile!By looks of it Emma isn`t complaining though! Obviously. Pretty amazing though, she's the last human being on planet Earth to have been born before the year 1900. Literally the last!

The only American footballer of an advanced age that I can think of is John Madden, from the series of video games - and at 80 he is getting on a bit now! Potential Deathlist material?
-
Personally I think she should come out of musical retirement to do a one-off duet with Aloe Blacc of "I Need a Dollar" fame. Think about it - they could call themselves Aloe Vera!

Gilli Smyth of Gong dies aged 83, joining her late husband David Allen: http://www.planetgong.co.uk/news/current.shtml#gilli Never really cared for Gong's silly "psychedelic hippie stoner" philosophy at all, but nonetheless some of their music is pretty enjoyable.

Full time for Joao!
