Agree with those who have said he would be a great number 50 and would be a good candidate for the list even as early as next year - that is if he makes it that long!

    Thoughts On The 2016 List

Nicholas Winton was probably not on the list for the same deferential and rrespectful reasons many deadpoolers didn't have him on list. Howard Marks was maybe a miss but not unforgivable What sort of reasons would those be? "Deferential and respectful reasons"? A good pick is a good pick, being respectful has nothing to do with it. Putting someone on a deadpool is not about wanting a person to die, only about wanting to correctly predict that they will die.

Going to guess at Robert M Pirsig.

Yeah, saw that on Wikipedia's recent deaths. Anyway, Buzz Aldrin must be getting on. He might be a good pick for 2017

Yeah, it's crap this year. Total shite.

    Thoughts On The 2016 List

My main thought at the moment is that it's been really quiet for big name deaths since Muhammad Ali. The period between Lemmy's death and Ali's death was one in which famous people died at a ferocious pace. There were so many famous people that died during that period, and only 6/50 on the official Deathlist? Pathetic. Some really obvious picks have been left off lists in recent years (Sir Nicholas Winton, Howard Marks) - are the committee amateurs or something? Can I choose who the official Deathlist should consist of next year?

Nektar frontman Roye Albrighton died in July aged 67: http://bravewords.com/news/legendary-nektar-frontman-roye-albrighton-passes Not by any means a major prog band, a bit like the aforementioned group Man. But still, another one bites the dust.

    Political Frailty

I had Piet de Jong on my list bringing my 2016 total up to 11 hits and there's still 5 months to go! Only problem is, I haven't seen a UK obituary for him anywhere?

Twelve years is quite soon, in planetary ages. Though comparing threads started in 2004 to modern ones is a bit like comparing the 87 Deathlist to the modern day ones, surely. 2004 was certainly a long time ago now! I remember having a bad hangover the day Ronald Reagan died...

    Muhammad Ali

Another 'cultural icon' gone in 2016... Weird how he had all these views in the Sixties about the Nation of Islam and the need to separate black people from white people. Does any black person think like that now? Floats like a butterfly, tenth hit for me!

I think he definitely deserves a thread. Most of the former members of the Stooges are (I think) dead, and many of his contemporaries (Reed, Bowie) are dead. But not his younger lookalike Anthony Kiedis.

    Wasn't he a junkie in the 80s/90s?

I dunno, I think a pair of tight and skimpy Speedos is a pretty serious health risk if you ask me! Can't pull that Speedo elastic too tight now...

Heard of the band, think I've heard one of their albums, but never heard of him as an individual person. I get the impression he's too obscure a figure to be the missing 7th member of the club.

The problem I believe that is currently brewing in society is a sense of hiding the harsh realities of life from children.Yes you can mollycoddle children into believing that the world is a shiny happy place where everything turns out well:Well it isn`t and these kids are going to learn the hard way.People and animals die in horrible ways even from natural causes. We give children all these fallacies about death such as oh "they went to sleep" or "they slipped away" and yeah that works until you have to confront death face to face staring into a terminally ill family member or friends eyes. After that a fucking cartoon bunny getting shot is laughable! Agreed. Been there done that, seen people die including some of my closest family of all, and there's no need for euphemisms about it

I agree It's like in Toy Story 3 when all the toys are going to die, and then they get saved by the little aliens with the claw. There isn't going to always be someone there to save you...

Absolute load of shit. Animals kill each other in nature. Animals die. People die. Life is not some fucking fairy story where everyone lives happily ever after, and that is what they should be teaching kids, not censoring for fear of offending. But we live in the age of political correctness, where you can't say one little fucking thing for fear of being accused of racism, misogyny, homophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, transphobia ...
  23. Did he not say obese celebrities are not allowed? I've seen her in the flesh recently and she not chubby at all - shocker eh? She must have lost weight then - what about Lisa Riley and Dawn French, did either of them ever lose weight? Lisa Riley has recently lost loads of weight and looks pretty good. She was still shit on You've Been Framed though. Bring back Jeremy Beadle from his grave in that cemetery in London next to Karl Marx And make sure he brings his deformed hand too!
  24. If he did die, he could be the 7th member of the 69-71 club! Lemmy, Bowie, Jack Bruce, Keith Emerson, Lou Reed and Edgar Froese need a seventh member for their supergroup...
