TIN PEST! Former Burmese PM Tun Tin has died a few months before turning 100. Tun Tin had been in failing health for at least two years and was widowed in September 2017. As a young man he took part in the first Burmese anti-British movements ad later collaborated with Japanese occupants during WWII. In 1949 he earned his "Thura" honorific title by suppressing a Karen insurgency in blood. Yeah, I know what you are thinking: if John Rambo was there this would be the last line of his biography, but for a lucky chance, he came there about 60 years later. Tun Tin quickly started a decent political career, which saw him becoming Minister of Finance and then Prime Minister, serving briefly in 1988. During his rule 8888 insurgence happened and after a mere month from it, the Tun was sacked and retired from politics. He was actually perceived as a puppet of Sein Lwin with very limited political power. He was a good historian in his old age, publishing as late as 2010. The most important thing is he is a hit here for @The Quim Reaper, who scores again! Congrats!

Khampheng Boupha, one of the few women of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Surely was alive in 1993 when she published a book of memories. Also seems to have an Ancestry profile, which I have not access to. Search is complicated by the fact her name in Lao is not easily available. Would be 97 if still alive.

Grand Master of the Military Order of Malta, Fra Giacomo della Torre del Tempio, hospitalized in "very critical conditions" after sudden turn in his health. If I understand correctly between the lines, he has been diagnosed with cancer in January.
-
Oh yes!
-
First reports were quite traigic. He is in ICU anyway and has battled cancer for year. Still I think he will be dischaarged in a few days, that's the Indian way.
