Mubarak underwent surgery last week and is in a stable condition. Rumours are that he is dying after a long period of failing health.

Lost consciousness briefly, but nothing serious.

Here is a list of surviving Abel Prize winners. These guys are incredibly longeve, almost as a group of Hong Kong councilmen. *Jean-Pierre Serre (1926): still out and about, he was the one to announce John Tate had died last October. *Isadore Singer (1924): longtime Michael Atiyah's collaborator and cranky old. *Peter Lax (1926): Hungarian legend of applied mathematics. *Lennart Carleson (1928): Swedish random old guy. *S. R. Srinivasa Varadhan (1940) *John G. Thompson (1932) *Jacques Tits (1930) *Mikhail Leonidovich Gromov (1943) *John Milnor (1931) *Endre Szemerédi (1940) *Pierre Deligne (1944) *Yakov Sinai (1935) *Andrew Wiles (1953) *Yves Meyer (1939) *Robert Langlands (1936) *Karen Uhlenbeck (1942) Deaths till now are John Nash, Michael Atiyah, John Tate and Louis Nirenberg. Arguably the most famous of them all. Anyway, longevity is just impressive here, with 5 of them over 90 and a 13 over 80.

No, he was the last ace. Two of the Fews are still living, both will turn 101 this year.

It has emerged (last year) that Kim Yong-ju actually collaborated with Japanese forces during occupation rather than being abroad; and it has been the real reason of his fall from grace. Would be lucky if he gets a state funeral, or death simply announced as he would have been already executed for treason has him not been Kim Il-sung's brother.

Huangshi former mayor Yang Xiaobo has died at 56, reportedly of coronavirus. You know it is serious when it begins to strike party officials... EDIT: Media report it as pneumonia, but it is very suspect... EDIT 2: Coronavirus confirmed. -

Yeah, he's called Dilip Kumar. Should know him well. -
Singh is probably 10-15 years younger according to some Gerontology guys. Plus his biography is widely inconsistent.

Kane Tanaka has been suffering from high fever the past few days, it seems she has recovered now, but that can't be a good sign...

Do you think they are having the same reaction about Louis Nirenberg?

Legendary (and not joking here) mathematician Louis Nirenberg has died at 94.

I assure you I never followed NBA or basketball in general, but perfectly know who Kobe Bryant is and what he means to the world of basketball. Probably second only to Michael Jordan.

Wikipedia is down too at the moment. Hey, and Daniel arap Moi still lives.

Actually NK is depicted much worse as it is. They announce deaths when they occur and that makes it a fair Country. To me only.

My pick Asa Branca has been sedated and will likely die today or tomorrow. Chances of english obits are somewhat thin, though.

We usually don't use this thread for Muricans. Oh, we have already been arguing about this... -
Obit for Jones says he will be born on 1 February 2020. Born in the grave, technically speaking.

Unfortunately news of his death were completely overshadowed by the death of Tunisian PM Hédi Baccouche, who died the same day.
