Who will win the 2020 US Presidential Election?
Joey Russ replied to Windsor's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Genuinely I think it’s too early to call. There really can be an argument for either of them winning at this point. I’ll choose none of the above for now... -

Who will win the Democratic Nomination for President in 2020?
Joey Russ posted a topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The first debate in the democratic primary is only a few weeks away, and there are very few potential candidates that could announce at this point, so I figured that now would be the time to start a poll for the primaries. Trump is obviously going to smash Bill Weld and anybody else who announces a challenge to Trump in the primary, but the democratic primary will be quite interesting with so many people in the race. Anyways, let’s start with a highlight of someone who isn’t likely to win. -
Oof, and unfortunately it’s way too late for a sub to come in. My condolences to Creep...

You’re not just saying that just because you’re lead, are you? But yeah, with all the death going around in the world, I think it might be better for a round to not have so many deaths since there’s a ton of it known in the news...

Been surprisingly quiet in the cup, but I think that shows you the unpredictability of coronavirus picks in general. That, and all of the survivors from March still look to be alive. So it’s interesting to see if there will be more deaths in the second half of the cup...

Bands at The Great Gig in the Sky
Joey Russ replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Trying to figure out some other bands from the 1950s. There’s Bill Haley and the Comets who of course made the classic “Rock Around the Clock”. From what I can tell, everyone who played during that session is dead apart from saxophone player Joey Ambrose, who had a concert as recently as January 2020. Al Rex, a bass player in the group from the 1950s but didn’t play on the track is also apparently still alive. Ronald Isley is the only Isley Brother from the original group left, although some other folk who joined later is still alive. The Moonglows appear to all be dead, but there is (very brief original member) Danny Coggins who I can’t find anything about, so might be a group that is in limbo where we assume he’s dead but we don’t know for sure. Original members of The Flamingos appears to be all dead, although Tommy Hunt and Terry Johnson (who sang on their biggest record to date) still seem to be alive. -

There was always unity in the Democratic Party politicians whether it was 2016 or 2020. It’s the voters that may not be as unified. -

Is the Glenn Miller Orchestra (the original one) the oldest group that we can’t cross out yet since we’re still waiting on Ray Anthony? -
If you want to make a rule where your picks can only appear 6 times on your shadow list, then go ahead. However, the Deathlist isn’t your list. It’s their list, and they pick who they want to pick, and they can pick them once or they can pick them till they die. So if they want to pick a name until they actually die, then that’s their choice. There is no need to force them to have a rule like that at all.

Bands at The Great Gig in the Sky

Well, there is a mention of ABBA in this thread, a band where all four members a clearly alive both back in 2006 and today. I believe that thread is focused on bands that aren’t getting back together, which is a bit of a difference than seeing which bands have their members actually die. So I think there’s a distinct difference. -

It’s a bit different there. That one focused on which bands will never reunite (say, The Smiths won’t reunite cause Morrisey doesn’t want that to happen) whereas this one is focused on those bands who members have actually all died or are close to all dying out. Might need to change the title to differentiate the two, but not sure what it could change too... -

We’re going to have to wait for Jerry Allison before we can cross off the original Crickets line up. Also of note, Bowie’s group during his glam era The Spiders From Mars only feature one original member as well, that being Mick Woodmansy -

Steve Farmer, guitarist for the Amboy Dukes (which was also the band that kicked off the career of very unpleasant twat 70s rock star Ted Nugent) is dead at 71

The cancer could come back later in the year so I wouldn’t completely write him off (relapses occur a lot). But for now he’s much healthier. And hope it stays that way for a while.

Just checked. Can’t seem to find him on that list either
