Am I mixing up my third world country world leaders? Jeez, there's so many of them. Anyways, he was a notorious president in Egypt who succeeded Anwar Sadat after he got assassinated, and... Ugh, why do I keep messing this up? Anyways, Arap Moi was the second president of Kenya, succeeding Jomo Kenyatta after his death. He was pretty popular at first, but slowly but surely he became a big dictator. After he defeated an attempted coup on him in 1982, he began to slowly make Kenya a one party state (though that eventually returned via outside forces in 1991). Eventually, the rest of the world viewed Kenya as an autocratic country. His re-elections in 1992 and 1997 was marred in political violence, and Moi himself was accused of multiple human rights abuses. Eventually, he could no longer run for president due to constitution changes, and he retired in 2002. Beginning in October of last year, he was hospitalized due to complications from pleural effusion. While the status seemed to continually switch back and forth, further health problems seemed to arise which lead to his death. He was really popular with forum, jumping all the way to the unlucky 13th spot in his debut appearance.
