American cartoonist Steve Stiles has died at 76. Was hoping he’d be a sneak cup pick in February, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

SCRUTONIZING MR ROGER'S DEATH 2/50 12th January 2020 Well known English bigot Sir Roger Scruton has died to give the Crowdsource list a quick follow up success. He began his career intending to study the natural sciences at Cambridge, but instead switched to studying philosophy on the first day of class. He got his conservative ideology he was well known for after witnessing the May 1968 student protests in France, believing he was on the other side. Well, he was on the other side of many issues that we all love so much, such as being a racist that go him sacked from a government job in 2019, founding The Salisbury Review in 1982 that called for compulsory repatriation, and believing that gay rights are dangerous for the children. Nonetheless, he was highly respected within the conservative community, and got rewards such as the Czech Republic's Medal of Merit from Vaclav Havel in 1998 for his anti-USSR work. He was also knighted in 2016 for "his services in philosophy, teaching, and public education”. However, many people still see him as a massive cunt. News of a cancer diagnosis was announced in August 2019, and after he looked terrible in December, he became popular on lots of folks list. This was his first appearance on the crowdsource list, jumping all the way to 35th place.

Who Will Thomas Jefferson Survives 100th Hit Be?
Joey Russ replied to Joey Russ's topic in Dead Pools
Welp, looks like I jinxed him. He’s hit 89 -
Noticed I’m not on the leaderboard for Qaboos. Also, I think you put Reptile twice on the leaderboard.

Hello, here's a reminder that there's 8 more days until January 20th, which is when the first cup draw is and the end of the entry period is. You might be able to force the host into a first round if you do that. Also, I do want to make clear you need to confirm in some way that you're entering the cup. You can't just enter a team once the entry period begins and expect to be added onto a draw. So just an FYI...

Who Will Thomas Jefferson Survives 100th Hit Be?

2019: 14 hits 2018: 12 hits (would've been 13 under current obit rules and 14 if the Independent was still around) 2017: 15 hits 2016: 16 hits 2015: 12 hits 2014: 7 hits 2013: 11 hits As you can see, he generally has a good track record of hits, and has only gotten better overtime. So it's likely that he's able to get at least 13 hits in 2020... -
I noticed that Day In The Death Volume 2 isn’t on there. It totally isn’t filled with names I forgot/missed in my research along with the best of the original team, honest.

Maybe you were thinking of the crowdsource list? He was picked there

Him and John Lewis proved that it is completely possible to make it on solely on last week voters (or in Lewis’s case, only 48 hours). Anyone who doubts a major comeback in the future will have these two to look on...

Alt Obits starting to look interesting. I had the Sultan of Oman on my list, although he’s only 8 points and was a replacement name for me. Gonna be a close race I feel

OH MAN, OFF WITH A BANG 1/50 10th January 2020 Questions of whether the crowdsource list will have to wait super long like last year for a first hit has been answered, as Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said has died to give the crowdsource list it's first score. After completing his education in England, he was placed under house arrest by his father in 1966. During that time, he studied Islam and the overall history of his country, which was then known as Muscat and Oman. On July 23rd, 1970, he was able to successfully lead the 1970 Omani coup d'état against his father, with the goal of ending of ending his country's isolation from the rest of the world as well as using it's oil revenue for modernization and development. Muscat and Oman became known as Oman, and he ruled the country for nearly 50 years. He lead the country as an absolute monarchy, and like most countries with an absolute monarchy, had it's fair share of flaws. However, he did help to make Oman a better place in other regards, such as abolishing slavery in the country, modernizing oil revenue, and helping to build hospitals and schools within the country. He previously had a cancer battle in announced in 2014, but when it was reported that he might only have weeks left, the folk pushed him on through, being one of two major last week comebacks to work successfully. He died at 79 from cancer, sneaking onto the 43rd spot, and setting the stage on what might be a stronger year than last year...

Depends on the brain cancer tbh. Some brain cancer seems to be easily treatable, others like the big glio you do kind of have to give your farewell to...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Joey Russ replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Hm, lets see if this video works. If not, I’ll edit the post to name the song. The name is foreign and kind of long for those wondering why I’m not writing out the title, it’s performed by Jeff Buckley though: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=__uu9kNBDS0 -

Stumbled onto an old playlist of mine and discovered some songs I haven’t heard in a while. Probably my favorite song on it I didn’t recognized: https://open.spotify.com/track/4mO7DeDHWeyU8RVII7UWwm?si=2B1HRxLZQE2hd8ofQgoCGA -

At this point I’m just looking to see potential names who might get accepted if they aren’t on the database right now. Maybe I’ll be able to get one in if lucky.

Think I should be good now.
