I think mine is joeyruss. Try that

Apparently I made an account years back and have a team I don’t remember making at all. Anyways, count me in (I think I found your pool, but if not always good to send an invite).

Well, we’re slowly Learning on whether this will be as strong of a year, eh? I’ll grab my coat...

Since then France, Pakistan, Indonesia, and the Netherlands can be added to the list...

So, I was a bit bored, and was trying to think of ideas. Then something popped into my head. Why not make a list of names that were picked by the winning team of each year. Doesn’t matter if they died that year, lived, didn’t get a QO, or (in one case) die before ddp action but wasn’t known until afterwards. As long as they appear on the winning team as mentioned on the ddp site (so no Mark Crispin, for example), they’re fine. So the list goes as follows... 1. John Andretti 2. Frankie Banali Kidding. You mean, I can’t have a little bit of fun every now and then? Ah well, he’s the actual list compiled then, from 2000 to 2021:

Tbh, I think there has been an improvement on the FFBI names front. Even Spade Cooley, the king of FFBI, only picked one name that can be considered FFBI. Could be the fact that there’s so many names out there, but I think it’s telling that more and more picks are fascinating cult names rather than your typical cancer mum story. So there’s that. -

Only Scatton and Frates (although he has kind of transcended that fame) could be considered FFBI picks. That you also consider Nugroho FFBI just on a worldwide basis kinda is just kind of strange. Would that make someone like, say, Spanky Manikan FFBI? No, it wouldn’t... -
Grier is definitely one to watch I say. Maybe not very soon, but within the next couple of years...
-
Ah, but as you can see, Ortega was a hit for Spade while the cup was running

Pam Grier denies cancer rumors

After nearly everyone removed Tom Long from consideration he’s still a hit for someone. IE Drol
-
Replaced Suzanne Whang, Leah Bracknell, Marieke Vervoort, Tom Long (scoring hits), Randy Romero, Jimmy Spicer (non obits), and Chris Mortensen (too old) with Jana Bennett, Steve Blackmore, Scott Dureau, Gavin Robertson, Yoo Sang-chul, Tom Smith, and Gianluca Vialli

Lee Kerslake had his cancer spread to his bones and, er, he’s still here...

I do want to make clear that I won’t be accepting any teams for the cup until after I submit my team to a trusted person on the 20th (that is, if I don’t get a bye). Once the 20th comes, you’re all welcome to submit though.

Yeah, I can be a bit of a smartass/smartarse at times (aren’t we all), but not to worry. Generally I’m quite friendly, and I do help with a couple of dead pools as of now...

Yeah, luck of the draw is just as important as your skill level. Last year, me and DDT had some of the strongest teams in the final 32 last year (15 points each iirc), yet we both ended up losing due to our opponents having even stronger teams. So yeah, I wouldn’t stress too much about finding obscure picks cause you don’t know when you’ll face an opponent of similar/stronger skill level...

With Spade posting about a super mystery pick in the 2019 shortlist thread, I figure that it would be time to post the shortlist thread for 2020. So, have any super duper off forum names? Got a good joker pick in mind? You can talk about all of that in this thread right here. And please, do give names if possible.

I didn’t think he’d be miraculously cured either. Just that the thing might’ve extended his life for another year or two.

Oops, better go back to the drawing board...
