BELOVED FORUM POSTER DIES 11/50 6th September 2019 Robert Mugabe, best known for his many years of insightful posts on Deathlist forums, has sadly died at 95 to give another crowdsource score. He was a familiar and loved figure on the forums, with his wit, anti-racism posts, and long friendship with Deathray who recently married Neil Kinnock’s Welsh Constituency. He also had a bit of a tenuous relationship with your crowdsource host, but you can't please everyone. In these sad Post Hein days, this is the first time we’ve had 100% confirmation of the death of a Deathlist poster, since the death of forum admin Paul Bearer in 2013. Mugabe will be fondly remembered by all fans of his Swingtime Band. PS It has just reached us that Robert Mugabe was in fact a mass murdering embezzling dictator who ran roughshod over his own people for nearly 40 years. The things that people can get away with, while pretending to be a friendly member of the online community, never cease to shock. Side note: apart from a few minor tweaks this obit was the work of msc, not me. Since he clearly wanted this obit published for the longest time and I did one of his obits for Stan Lee back in 2018, I decided to give him one obit. Now I'm waiting for the why are you so racist comments...

DYING ON SUNSHINE 10/50 18th August 2019 Former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has died in order to bring the crowdsource list score to double digits. Her early political career includes serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1984 to 1989 and becoming the Lieutenant Governor in 1996. She eventually ran for governor in 2003, defeating future embarrassing presidential candidate Bobby Jindal by a 52 to 48 margin, and as such became the first female governor in Louisiana. Her tenure looked like a normal governor tenure at first. However, she was faced with dreadful Hurricane Katrina, one of the most costly and deadly hurricanes to date. Although George W Bush is largely to blame for a lot of the damage done by Katrina, Blanco is not completely innocent either. For example, she decided that it was a bright idea to send 300 troops who just came back from Iraq to the streets of New Orleans to stop looters. Yeah, that kept things fairly safe. She eventually decided to not seek re-election, where she was succeeded by, you guessed it, Bobby fucking Jindal. She had cancer since 2017, and some loud voices, including the former crowdsource host, helped secure her spot on the list, debuting in 32nd spot. It's weird though that for a little bit it seemed like she'd be the first hit, yet 9 others went before she finally died...

Famous farmers and agricultural people
Joey Russ replied to Hosni Mubarak's topic in DeathList Forum
There’s Jimmy Carter... -
Well, he did say that when Mugabe died he would be reborn as Mubarak, so that’s not surprising...
-
Well, that was a lot quicker than I expected...

Ooh. One of the less competitive Alt Obits teams had Chris Duncan on their squad, and while at first glance this seems like nothing, it’s actually quite important because drol now loses his youngest hit of the year.
-
Chris Duncan for me. Would really help my chances in this pool...
-
He’s from New Zealand. New Zealanders typically don’t get a QO. Just ask Cocksy
-
It’s part of the Derby Dead Pool QO list, which the BBC is a part of. So it’s acceptable
-
This is the QO list @Yvonne

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
Joey Russ replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Who knows? Maybe someone will send me a dead pool entry for another pool way too early. That might force make me make more posts and maybe catch up to you. -
I don’t think Etchegaray got a QO of sorts yet either.
-
So does anyone know when Hosni Mubarak will make his debut on the forum?
-
Jimmy Carter again

Sticking with Gorby

Mugabe goes down.

Aye, time to send this late forum poster tributes: https://forums.deathlist.net/profile/11615-robertmugabe/
-
Let me remind all of you to please not send any crowdsource list entries to me at this time, as it’s still about 4 months away before the starting line. I will let you know when I will start accepting entries. Yes, I think I just got a list for the crowdsource list...

Kinnock isn’t a sock puppet, it’s Deathray changing his name and profile picture.

SCATTERING OF JOHNNY'S ASHES IN AFRICA 9/50 16th July 2019 South African superstar Johnny Clegg has succumbed to pancreatic cancer in order to bring another score to the crowdsource list. In his early days, Clegg pursued an academic career in anthropology at the University of Witwatersrand and the University of Natal. However, it was his music career that he will be most remembered for. He formed Juluka after meeting Sipho Mchunu, a Zulu migrant worker, which it was named after Mchunu's bull. Eventually Juluka was a multiracial band which grew to 6 members, 3 black and 3 white people in the band. Their style included a mix of European and African influences. By the release of their first album Universal Men in 1979, they were already facing threats of harassment and censorship in South Africa. Clegg later recalled that it was impossible to perform in public in South Africa. However, he was really popular elsewhere. In 1986, he formed his second group Savuka which further pushed them into stardom, with their song "Scatterlings of Africa" included in the film Rain Man. In the end, Clegg was arguably influential in ending apartheid in South Africa due to his two multi racial bands. Clegg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015, which eventually killed him 4 years later. Many of the voters noticed a downturn for him late last year, which secured him the 38th spot on his first time on the list.

Convicted child sex offender (and probably on some of your long lists as well) Peter Ellis dead before he had the chance to appeal his conviction at 61.

Wait a second, it's that time of year already? Man, time does fly by fast. So here we are, another year of the annual Advent Avalanche, with the following objective and rules: 25 entrants (24 quickest off the mark plus your host Joey Russ). Competition opens on 1 December with the aim of getting a winner by Christmas Day. And those Rules in Full: 1 - The object of the AVALDP is to WIN. 2 - To enter the AVALDP a contestant must have: A candidate not selected by another other entrant. A candidate in this context means a living person aged 18 or over not being executed within that month who remains alive at midnight on November 30th and is considered likely to cease living soon after and also be capable of gaining a qualifying obit see rule 9 below upon death. 3 - Entries open at 7:00am EST (that's 12:00 PM GMT for the brits) on 30th November and close at midnight (GMT) on 30 November. Entry can only be made by posting the name of a candidate on the AVALDP thread on the Deathlist. 4 The competition is deemed to be open at 00-01 GMT hrs on 1 December 2018. 5 Competition ceases on the death of the first nominated pick on the list of candidates and the winner is the dead pooler who has selected said candidate. 6 Entry is limited to 25 players (24 who are obliged to post entries on the AvalancheDP thread and Joey Russ, who reserves a right of entry as the master of ceremonies for this endeavor). Presumably the artistic intent is obvious but in case you missed it the idea is to get 25 players to compete for a death within 25 days thereby giving us a victory by Christmas Day at the latest. If you're snoozin you're losing. 6a Because he has forced his own entry Joey Russ guarantees to respect the first 24 qualifying picks and only enter a candidate unselected by the others. Thereby ensuring the really hot selections go to others. 7 - In the event that two players select the same candidate the allocation of the pick will go to the player who first posted an entry for that candidate even if the entry times are within the same minute. 8 In the event that two players tie for victory on the basis of picks expiring on the same day all efforts will be made to ascertain a winner on the basis of the actual time of death. For these purposes local time of death will be translated to GMT if required. 9 - An "obit" in the context of the AVALDP is any news report in English from a reliable source. Such sources include - but are not limited to - UK national press, UK national broadcast organizations, foreign press and broadcast organizations with an English language thread to their communication, trade press in English, local news organizations reporting in English and coverage in specialist online sites, such as those monitoring the well-being of super-centenarians. Where dispute arises over the qualifying nature of a news source for obit purposes Joey Russ's decision is final. But he wants fast and furious competition and is generally very amenable to low hanging dead pool fruit of all varieties. 10 The Raymond Hewlett Memorial Award applies to the AVALDP. In honor of everybody's favourite Maddie-implicated paedo scum a candidate widely believed to be alive when the winner is declared and subsequently proven to have died previously will be awarded victory in the event that a AVALDP qualifying obit subsequently appears for said candidate. In the event that a AVALDP qualifying obit for the candidate is subsequently proven to have existed prior to commencement of the AVALDP all points will be voided. RHME points are only available during competition and in the event that a winner has been declared before discovery of a qualifying RHME candidate no revision of the final result will occur. Similarly, if some lucky candidate is awarded RHME victory and this victory once declared is proven to be spurious by late discovery of a qualifying obit; the lucky winner will be allowed to keep his/her lucky win. 10a To ensure smooth operation of rule 10 the period for discovery of result altering obits is deemed to be 48 hours plus the remainder of the calendar day in which victory is first claimed. In other words two days and a part of another day. 11 - If an obited death occurs during play of the AVALDP and is missed despite Joey Russ's best efforts to stay in touch and/or the spirited efforts of AVALDP participants and said death is missed in totting up points, after which a winner is declared, then this death will not count for competition purposes. The same is true in the case of a known death gathering a late obit and therefore allowing some other competitor to be declared a winner. All disputes relating to rule 11 will be resolved by the astute judgement of Joey Russ and there is no appeals procedure (though all sides of opinion are warmly invited to liven up the AVALDP thread by venting their fury). 12 - In the event that Deathlist editing options or other online trickery is discovered to have been employed in the editing of entries, those duly fingered for such cheating will be removed from the AVALDP and banned for life from subsequent entry into AVALDPs. 13 In the unlikely event that a pick selected on 30 November fails to mark the start line the entrant selecting said pick will still be deemed to have entered the competition and will have until midnight 1 December to select a new pick (unselected by other entrants). Should the entrant fail to do so no other entrant will be allowed in as a replacement. AND FINALLY... On completion of AVALDP activities the thread will get lively for a short while as losing contestants and spectators offer well-deserved congratulations to the skillful and highly talented new champion, after which time it is expected that the cooling corpse of the thread will be allowed to gently sink into oblivion. Now you know the rules, here is the list of competitors and there choice of candidates: Banana - Chris Bradley Phantom of the Midway - Tanya Gendle Clorox Bleachman - Anna Thornton msc - Andrew McGahan Spade_Cooley - Naka Drotske gcreptile - Jean-Louis Trintignant YoungWilz - Andrew Fairlie Captain Chorizo - Simon Ricketts Bibliogryphon - Vera Lynn Sir Creep - Patti Goyette Toast - Nobby Stiles drol - Syed Ashraful Islam Grim Up North - Josephine Mandamin YorkshireBanker - Anne Baker Book - Kane Tanaka Great Uncle Bulgaria - Leslie Phillips Death Impends - Herman Wouk markb4 - Tim Conway theoldlady - Stanley Baxter charon - Kathleen Blanco Skinny kiltrunner - Peter Angelos Deathray - John McCririck JQW - Donald Trump En Passant - Sumner Redstone Joey Russ - Bill Freehan Lets look at the past and current winners of this dead pool now 2016 Death Impends 2017 Sean 2018 Banana Good luck everyone.

MCCRRICK'S FINAL FURLONG 8/50 5th July 2019 One of the UK's most well known horse racing pundits and journalists has went down his final stretch in order to give the crowdsource list's next success. He first tried to get into some diplomatic service, but after that failed, he went through some other jobs such as being a tic tac man before he eventually became a journalist for The Sporting Life. He began his horse pundit on ITV Sport's horse racing coverage in 1981.His role was eventually expanded after the horse racing channel was switched from ITV to Channel 4 in 1985, where he eventually got his flamboyant attire such as his famous hat and sideburns that many people remember today, such. However, it may be his wild life away from horse racing where he is best remembered for such as his appearance in Celebrity Big Brother. Indeed, he was dropped from their coverage team in 2013 because he was considered offensive and disgusting. Whether you liked him or not, there was no doubt that he was a very influential figure on the news scene. People noticed that he looked very poorly last October. and while some like myself thought we might be falling for a booby trap, in the end he turned out to be a dead cert and was quite pathetically easy to catch, dying from lung cancer at 79. He was making his first appearance on the list, jumping all the way to the 24th spot.
