Tbh, that’s not too surprising. The youngest hit this year is Mark E Smith who died at 60, while 2017 had 3 names under 60 who died (Joost, Errol Christie, Gord Downie).

Oh, and you can still submit your list if you like at the risk of your host nearing another mental breakdown as dealing with Bush’s points did...
-
And all of the sub points have been scattered down now. *phew*
-
Bush and Lee presumably puts me at a more respectable performance, but probably not a winning one...
-
You do know that the amount of names is 25 plus 3 subs rather than 20 and 3 subs, right? Also, can you pretty please open up a brand new thread? I don’t want to scroll to page 48 to find the masterlist and such...
-
Yep. Though I think it’s tradition that a name with a bunch of points dies before the starting line. See Zsa Zsa in 2016 and King Michael and Hallyday in 2017...
-
Probably not, they’re usually one of the last big news sources to report any death outside of the UK...

I’ll continue the American leader trend with Jimmy Carter.
-
I went for Clive James in an attempt to try to make a comeback in the DDP.

Feel kind of meh about his death tbh. Better than your Republican politicians today, but still has done a lot of shitty things. Still, hope his family finds peace. RIP
-
Bush Sr wasn’t picked by me. Dodged another one again...
-
Oh FFS. Bush Sr was currently leading the pack with 378 points, and now I’m going to have to deal with a bunch of sub points. Sigh... For those of you wondering who’s leading after Bush’s demise, it’s someone you all know very well...
-
Okay, the master list is now up. Notably missing from this year's competition was last year's winner Sean as well as the MMMDP winner for this year Dead Cow, so the title is definitely wide open...
-
So that’s all the spots filled up now. Frankly, despite 24 other people playing this game, there is a name that I’m amazed that nobody have picked yet, so because of that, I will be picking Detroit Tigers catcher Bill Freehan. Masterlist to be uploaded on main page soon, and good luck to all of the contenders.
-
One hour left to take the last spot. Do we have any takers?
-
So I did a second “if the top 50 was taken today”, and I noticed that on the list 44 out of 50 names reappeared on the list again. Meaning there’s definitely some picks that people like. Interestingly, one of the 6 that dropped off the top 50 is someone extremely well known to the casual players, and while they will certainly qualify on New Years barring death imo, the fact that they’re at risk now is quite interesting. Oh, and two names very well known to the forums are making a bit of a comeback entering the top ten this time when they were out of the top 20 this time...
-
I don’t think changing names after seeing other people pick someone is allowed...
-
One more spot out there before I make my pick...
-
1. Fernando Ricksen 2. Clive James 3. John McCririck 4. Kirk Douglas 5. Olivia de Havilland 6. Vera Lynn 7. Roberta McCain 8. Leah Bracknell 9. Norman Lloyd 10. IM Pei
-
Right, that’s only 5 spots remaining. Then I’ll take my pick...
-
1. Camilla Skovgaard 2. Andrew McGahan 3. Jean Louis Trintignant 4. Barry Du Bois 5. Michael Murphy
-
Whoops. In my defense, I just woke up which isn’t a good time for my brain to function. Haven’t had the best day either so far...
-
The site is back up, but no picks after Whitey Bulger is shown to have died...
