Can the thread title at least say historical discussions so we can tell the difference between the two?

Get Buzz Aldrin on the list. -
I love the sound of Nai Palm in the morning.

Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus is not afraid of dying after cancer diagnosis.

Er, I hate to be that guy, but this thread is called the death anniversary thread, not the birth anniversary thread. Maybe there should be a thread for birth anniversaries...

Environmentalist Ian Kiernan dead at 78.

Er, not really. He was diagnosed with a recurrence of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma a few weeks back, so while how quickly he went may be sooner than expected, it’s not really surprising that he died.

That was quite fast, didn’t even shortlist him!

That’s assuming that everyone else on my team survives the rest of the year, which may or not happen at this point, particularly with Clive James and Fernando Ricksen. While them surviving the year wouldn’t shock me in the slightest, their demise equally wouldn’t shock me. Interesting times ahead...

Because Ricksen is looking more and more frail to the point that he can’t even talk anymore. Besides, Stephen Hawking had a much slower moving strand of ALS, so that’s why he lived over half a century. The same can’t be said about Ricksen...

Apart from Gazza, all of these should be on till they drop imo. Barker for being 96 next year (which is the point where they’re on till they drop imo), Gascoine for her late stage Alzheimer’s, and Carter and Pope Ben too big to miss. I will say for Sean’s list that Stirling Moss shouldn’t be dropped for next year though...

I was chatting with msc, and he told me that each of the top three teams have a fascinating story though. One is the best player of the decade who never won a title before, one is a young breakout star, and one is an unheralded team who most people wouldn’t have said they had a shot of winning until this year. Personally, I’m content with my overall performance and will be happy with wherever I place, as two years ago I never would’ve thought I even had a shot at the title. But here I am now, watching the last two and a half months to see which of the three of us will eventually win the title...

Which one, Paul Simon or Art Garfunkel?

Re Lorimer, I believe you have fallen for some Chinese whispers that isn’t true at all. Sorry to tell you that (though I still picked him in a few pools, so didn’t completely realize that till his appearance). Goldberg is a question mark, he’s on a nasal cannula, but he didn’t look too bad at a recent public appearance besides that...

Stuart Fraser won’t be dying anytime soon afaik. I’ve discovered that one of his scans has showed that he is clear of lung cancer, so I think he’s probably safe for a few years at least. And Cocksy is one I don’t think will get a QO even if he does die this year. But overall a very solid analysis...

Meh, I don’t really strategize with uniques. If I do somehow get one, I will be pleasantly surprised, like Jacqui Forster this year...

Terry Jones barely recognizes the rest of the Monty Python crew. Maybe one for the 2019 list after all...

Also, if either of us wins (or Buckets of Blood wins for that matter), it’ll be the first win since 2013 in which the joker didn’t die.

I’m still waiting for that Lindy Remigino obit. Not like it’d really help me much, but still.
