Yes. You can also enter the 40/40 game as well as the Generation game.

Nah, she’ll turn into another wasted pick like Paul Gascoigne if she makes the list.

Here's a brief update for Matt Cappotelli, in which a total of 13 out of the 18 teams thought he wasn't tough enough to last out this year. Only points for him is a regular point and a bonus point for those who put him on one of the secret spots, and these teams did find a spot in which they get an extra point: FixedBusiness, RadGuy, Pedro, Book, and Toast, with the last one in that list breaking the 4th= joint pack (error says 3rd= last time, my apologies) and gets to an exciting position as the deficit between her and the pair at 2nd= is only one point, but the others stuck at 5th= is also only one point from her. Here are the scores! 1st - Torva Messor - 41 points 2nd= - Death Impends - 37 points 2nd= - drol - 37 points 4th - Toast - 36 points 5th= - CaptainChorizo - 35 points 5th= - The Dead Cow - 35 points 7th - msc - 34 points 8th - CastAway - 32 points 9th - Heef - 30 points 10th - Pedro67 - 29 points 11th - RadGuy - 28 points 12th - The Unknown Man - 23 points 13th= - Book - 22 points 13th= - FixedBusiness - 22 points 15th - Bibliogryphon - 20 points 16th - Gooseberry Crumble - 17 points 17th - YoungWilz - 14 points Last place - Joey Russ - 10 points Torva Messor leads at halftime, but will they still be leading in the end? Only time will tell...

Who are you waiting on?

Will admit that I didn’t expect him to receive one from the BBC. And yet, the Guardian (which I thought of his obit chances as them or bust) still hasn’t given him one as of now...

The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
Joey Russ replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It’s nice to see me at the top of the virtual scoreboard for the first time this year, but frankly I would be amazed if I was still leading at the end of the year. I feel like I lack good picks for me to continue holding my lead, as everyone picked Bracknell and McCain (and the former might put me at a disadvantage since some people jokered her) while Stefansson is the only death of everyone else I consider likely at this point. Still, it’s nice to be in the lead while it lasts... -
It’s not often that somebody beats you at something YoungWilz, but somebody did beat you here for once...

Funny story. Today I read about the death of John Dunlop and I thought “Didn’t someone joker Dunlop in the DDP?”. I realized it was this guy after I looked at the list of jokers I made for the dead pool I ran. So I found it slightly amusing that the jokered Dunlop also died today. If that isn’t a coincidence, then I don’t know what is...

Can I note that we’re only in the first week of July as of now, and yet, the DDP hit total is already at 150? I suspect that this year we’ll break the overall hit total in a year even though the competition for the title is one that is slowly moving...

The best Elvis is clearly Elvis Perkins, and I’ll fight anyone who disagrees with me...

Sun obit.

Looks like it’s going to be a Europe dominated top 4 then, since the 4 teams that haven’t played yet are European while France and Belgium both won against the South American teams in their match...

It was probably either prostate or penile cancer, as he describes it as a male dominated cancer...

Probably because most of us don’t go looking for dead people in local US politics...

Tbf, it was because many other jazz fusion names didn’t get a QO that I thought Jon Hiseman wouldn’t receive one...

Next Years Deathlist Creativity Thread
Joey Russ replied to msc's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm not going to try and guess which 25 are debuting/returning to the list until around November/December, however, I'm going to say my opinion on which of this year's squad should return to the list if no one else dies (note, it's my opinion rather than what the committee will actually do if all of these people survive). Centenarians (or will be centenarians next year): 1. Kirk Douglas 2. Herman Wouk 3. Olivia de Haviland 4. Lord Peter Carrington 5. Vera Lynn Old people that could be potential bedblockers in the future (though I think a few of these are on the way out, those people are *): 6. Prince Philip 7. JPCD (he's on 5 lists already, would be a waste to drop at this point imo) 8. Stan Lee* 9. Bob Dole* 10. Robert Mugabe 11. George Bush Sr* 12. Henry Kissinger 13. Denis Norden Those who are old but are ill enough to stay on the list: 14. Stirling Moss 15. Leslie Phillips 16. Neil Simon Those who aren't necessarily old, but are ill enough to warrant a carry over: 17. Leah Bracknell 18. John McCain 19. Jill Gascoine 20. Clive James The last five are for people who I think will make the list as the most deathlisty (though 4 of these are people who will be 96 or older next year, thus being too old to drop imo): 21. Betty White 22. Pierre Cardin 23. Doris Day 24. Bob Barker 25. Pope Benedict XVI -
Well, if the cancer does recur and kill him, he won’t be pumping it up anymore, will he? *runs away in fear from all the moaner*

Hm. If Colin Butts doesn’t receive the obit and assume the rest of the analysis is the same, Pity Da Foolz is still the favorite to win without Vervoort. However, if Vervoort does go and Butts doesn’t receive an obit, assuming that the rest of my analysis is correct, then I would be the favorite. However, I think I overestimated the value of Clive James since I believe that he has at least a few months left now, so maybe another person’s analysis might give a better picture on who has the best shot to win...

I just checked the masterlist, and noticed that I got a 6th name added to my team (Maartin Allcock). I mean, I wouldn't mind the extra points, but it wouldn't feel right to get points for a person that I didn't transfer in (and the five I did transfer in got transferred in)... EDIT: I counted 50 strangely enough on mine, so I don’t know who the other one that got removed, unless I miscounted of course...

It's only been one week since he died. I could easily see him get a Telegraph obit or Guardian mention in the coming weeks (and even if he doesn't get one this month, there's still 6 months left, so still a lot of time to get a mention in the following months). Although I wouldn't be upset if he doesn't obit, mind you. But I suspect that he'll receive something in the end...

I have my doubts on the record going this year. Still, I probably wouldn't want to write Christmas cards to the likes of Bracknell, Wouk, McCain, Moss, and Neil Simon just yet...

So by the end of the first half of the year, there are 5 hits. I noticed that from the past decade, the only years with a lower hit count within this decade were 2011 and 2014 with 4 hits and 2010 with only 3 hits by the end. Those are also the weakest three years of the decade as well. However, I feel as if there's plenty of names still alive that could bring it up to over 10 deaths...
