Heading to the capital today to go join the teachers in protest of poor education spending... -

Former piper for the Queen of England Gordon Webster has died aged 59. Wasn’t on my long list, but looking at his Facebook page I suspect a few people knew about him...

With him, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson having some reports of being very ill, are we having a country legend clear out very soon? EDIT: Surely one of them will make the list if any of them make 2019...

Sigh, because the legislatures are fucking up education in Oklahoma for paying the teachers so little. I’m actually lucky to be in one of the very few districts who can actually receive a decent education, but that’s all because of what the community gave to support us, not our stupid legislators. For much of Oklahoma, they can’t even run their school for five days a week because they don’t have money to run the lights all five days, and many of them don’t have enough textbooks for every kid, and many districts even have crippling textbooks. Some teachers are very close to living on food stamps even. Even if you don’t buy that though, you do realize that we’re going to have to make up every day we’re out due to the strike. This isn’t a free break, as it’ll likely cost me a lot of my summer due to the shady legislators. Partying for instant gratification isn’t right, as the teachers are fighting so everyone can actually receive a very decent education. I will continue to support the teachers everyday that they are out until they receive the pay that they deserve. End of rant. -

The shitty governor Mary Fallin just compared the teachers striking to teenagers wanting a nicer car. Yeah, this is going to last weeks... -
I’m guessing it’s similar to my wildcard pick of Mahmoud Abbas...

I would just like to thank everyone who has tolerated my mostly shitty posts. I would also like to thank drol for bringing this up so I was able to gain my very first dead pool win today. Most of all, I would like to thank Ray Wilkins for his death to make this a reality, although it saddens me that, besides his problems with alcohol, he seems like a decent guy. Cheers.

Along with John Key, now someone else needs to be added for winning the Easter Deadpool, me.

Since I forgot about her while making my team, I’ll replace Wilkins with Nicola Mendelsohn.

I’m so sorry for this. From the onion... Oklahoma leaders claim teachers’ strike betrays values of nations’ 1914 founding by Abraham Lincoln and Orville Redenbacher Calling the demands to fully fund schools “a slap in the face” to the great men who built this country, Oklahoma state leaders denounced the ongoing teachers’ strike Tuesday for betraying the values upon which Abraham Lincoln and Orville Redenbacher founded America in 1914. “This goes against everything the pioneers of this proud nation stood for when they triumphed over British tyranny at Pearl Harbor to win our independence from the communists,” said Gov. Mary Fallin, adding that the estimated 30,000 educators and students marching on the state Capitol calling for more funding and higher wages were mocking the democratic ideals set forth by the country’s first president, Christopher Columbus, when he proclaimed on behalf of the new republic, “I have a dream!” “What these teachers are doing is an affront to everything Neil Armstrong was fighting for when he led his troops to victory against Hitler during the Battle of Little Bighorn. It also goes against the 13th Amendment, which clearly states, ‘Honor thy mother and father.’” Fallin went on to remark that she had no doubt the carved faces of John D. Rockefeller, Cotton Mather, Will Rogers, and Tom Sawyer were looking down with grave disapproval from their rocky perch atop Space Mountain.

A bit of an update on the current state of the teacher strike: As I suspected, the legislators are being very stubborn. In fact, a third of them didn't even show up to work yesterday including Mary Fallin, the shitty Oklahoma governor. Because of this, the house has now adjourned until 3 pm tomorrow, though as of this point and time, the senate is still meeting. My school district was already cancelled through Wednesday, and I suspect we'll be out at least for the full week at least. Elsewhere, the buildings had to be shut down by state troopers due to the fact that they went over capacity, which is understandable. I don't sympathize with any of these legislators however, and I will continue to support the teachers who went on strike until they finally get the pay that they deserve. #fightforeducation -

Wait, Buzz Aldrin and Dick Van Dyke died?

If he does, he’d have more deathlist appearance than Clive Dunn.

Well, much of Oklahoma’s teachers are now officially on a strike, so I’m not sure how long I’ll be out of school. They passed a bill for a 6000 dollar pay raise, but you read the actual bill, it’s much worse than it seems on paper. And that’s not including the fact that’s there’s no money for support staff and other educational avenues. Anyways, I support the teacher strike 100% cause in the end it’ll help improve our education...
