  1. I really do like a lot of your names on your B Team Death Impends. It really does show a lot of eclectic and very interesting names (with your youngest being DJ Casper I think?). Alva Campbell, for example, might be one of the very rare examples of a person on death row that scores points cause of other natural causes, while Jalal Mansur Nuriddin is considered the grandfather of rap music. Genesis P-Orridge is also a potential rare hit, this time being a person of neither male or female gender. What I'm really proud of, however, is that I get to share a very artistic director on my own B Team with you, Nobuhiko Obayashi. Really fell in love with that pick when I found him, but he's way too old to put him on my own main team unfortanetly. I feel that my B Team is also eclectic in it's own right, though I would probably remove a couple of names if I had to send it again (not necessarily for health reasons, but instead to put other interesting picks in place). Andretti, West (who was only a sub), and Wright would definitely be out. Maybe Gleason and Rowe as well. But I like the other picks on that team, even the other likely fraudster (who, if B Teams are somehow able to stay, will probably stay on till he dies tbh)...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

List brought forward to new page.
  3. I feel as if a lot of you are missing the point. Even Cancerous Hatred's 15/20 difference has some more wriggle than a 19/20, which would very likely take up two spots wherever he's placed with potential of eliminating a spot for someone else. Ah, my opinion doesn't fucking matter. I believe some of it is bias against me, and if I did the same thing as Grim it would probably be a different story...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

I'm now starting to see why people are wanting to ban a second B Team, particularly with the controversy of Grim's nearly identical teams. I still don't think they should be completely banned though, especially since that'll eliminate some interesting but too old names from ever being used. Instead, I think a better idea is similar to the 11 hour period after the main deadline for the DDP is shut, ie to enter them at the hosts discretion. For example, if a second team mainly has borderline potential drop 40 picks that looks like it might have an impact on it, don't include it. But if you see a second team mainly with old and interesting folk that are ill but too old for main team glory with no drop 40 chance, then that would get accepted. Just a thought from me...
  5. Ah, you remind me of Jiroemen. The difference between Grim and him is that there were multiple differences between both of Cancerous Hatred’s team (and as it turns out, his main team was better anyways). Grim, on the other hand, has 19 similar picks, which doesn’t really give him a lot of wiggle room and is very likely to get two spots either near each other or in equal places (especially since I believe one is a fraud and the other might not obit).
  6. In my opinion, I think withdrawing one of your teams is the right thing to do. I don’t mind competition at all; in fact, I really enjoy it. If other people’s teams are better than mine in the end, I don’t really care cause it shows me that I can improve. But if me or someone else loses out on a top 5 spot or a top ten spot because of two nearly identical teams from the same person takes two of those spots, then I will be mad, cause that would rob me or someone else of an opportunity to say they made it that far. That’s just my opinion, but I think others will agree with me on that...
  7. So I start in 5th place right now. Like last year, I’m interested to see how slowly I fall out of the top ten (ha ha)... Seriously though, there are really a lot of great teams this year, and it’s going to be especially tough and temseful to see who will actually win (although if I see both of Grim’s team at top without Gabe Grunewald or Ami Brown dying, I will be slightly pissed cause that kicks out two teams from the top 3)...

    Dead Pop Stars

This is the best I could find so far, though if he’s really gone, I would expect all of the major news sources to cover him soon. Bit of a shame though if true, considering that the Moody Blues are a fantastic band, and that he’ll miss his induction into the rock and roll hall of fame.

    Predict The Drop 40

If any one of them makes the drop 40, it’s going to be Harvey Weinstein imo...
  10. Ah, I was thinking of some smaller actors but for some reason Jerry Lewis wasn’t showing up in my head at that moment. Especially odd for me since I was looking at the 2017 list the previous hour.
  11. Once again, who do you think will close the Oscar Memoriam. I think it’s a lot harder to guess this time since there’s no obvious big name this year or something truly as shocking as the Fisher/Reynolds one two...

    Shaun's Death By Numbers 2018

Jim Anderton a hit for DDT if the obit comes. Oh, the reign of DDT is coming to Death by Numbers again, isn't it? EDIT: Reuters obit

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

Was it? When I opened the obit, it didn't look like one. I think I'm getting way too tired nowadays...

Only Famous For Being Ill And Dying

A man imprisoned in Dubai believes that he is not receiving medicine for prostate cancer. Maybe one of the FFBI that is more likely to be accepted in the Deathlist Cup... PS, Mary Lucas got the BBC obit, so if she was picked again, there would be another New Year's Day hit...

Wrong thread mate. This is the thread to post this in.
  17. Though I don't believe it has any chance of beating my main team, I am interested to see what it's base score is so I can see the expected difference between my main and B team...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Elias makes it 13 total hits for me so far, though I'm only in year 2 of this. I think I'll definitely reach 100 hits by my tenth year of this though...

    1. Dick Van Dyke

Maybe that's a sign that Dick van Dyke doesn't have as long as we think. Nah. He'll see 2024 easily...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Well, she’s going to be on at least 26 teams this (I counted how many times she appeared on a team), and she’s probably going to appear on more teams that aren’t necessarily on the forum. If she somehow doesn’t make the drop 40 though, I’ll congratulate you, RadGuy, and anyone else who decided against jokering her...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

If Vervoort doesn’t make the drop 40, then the few people who didn’t joker her will be at an advantage imo. Of course, I’m hoping for the opposite since I did joker her, but it’s going to be close...

    Stirling Moss

I voted for him in the first death because I honestly don’t think he’ll be around much longer. I don’t want to start sweepstakes on here (please, go to the sweepstakes thread if you want one for him to be started), but he probably has weeks left imo...

    Holiday Thread

Nice to see Cat tracking planes again. We all missed that while you were gone.

    Kirk Douglas

So you’re saying that people who are interested in the dead have to be interested in fart jokes as well? That makes absolutely no sense at all...

    Predict The Drop 40

We both predict 37/40 of the same names, as well as predicting the same two likely drops. I believe that all 6 cases are definitely borderline cases for the drop 40 though. Elias could very well make the drop 40, considering that at least 20 teams picked her on the forums, and there could be more in droves. My gut feeling, however, is that she'll just miss out. Cryne I'm a little bit more wary on saying he'll make the drop 40, and I say that because of Kris Travis in 2016. He still appeared on a lot of teams despite being unique the previous year, but he didn't even make the top 50 that year. I think Cryne will break that point at least, but I don't know if appearing on 2 teams last year is enough, though improved teams even with casual players might push it. Tsvangirai, well, it's interesting with him since it didn't seem like a lot of the forum members have support for him. Besides you and me, there was gcreptile's and drol's B Team, Dead Cow (and even then he came in for him because he was a sub for Willow), Sean, and Eesti. The least likely of the 6 imo, but I wouldn't necessarily rule him out cause I could see people outside the forum picking him due to Mugabe's forced resignation, which he was mentioned in that coverage. Barker I think could make it due to the National Esquire bullshit, and a lot of forum members seemed to be so keen on him for some reason. Brooks I think is similar to Van Dyke/Day, ie a very well known name that despite no known health issues, he will be on a lot of teams anyways. Harris made it on in the past, so I think he might make it on again? He received more coverage since then that makes me think he might be back on. But the least likely of my three different picks to make the drop 40. If it turns out that by some strange chance that all 37 similarities make the list but neither of our 3 differences make the drop 40, however, I will be laughing so hard (extremely unlikely, I know, but stranger things have happened in the past...)
