That's probably one of the most difficult tasks, figuring out who'll take a turn for the worse. As we seen over the years, several people in the past were expected to survive the year, but then it turns out they had died. Simon MacCorkindale immediately comes into mind. From what I read, people were considering him a cert for 2011, but then he died in October 2010. So you have to be smart on who you choose. It also shows why it may still be many years before someone gets 20/20 on their team in one year. Of course, that's not the only factor to take into consideration. Other factors still apply as well...

I'm sure he's not the only one coming back with a much better team... But yeah, it's certainly cool. It's honestly seems like a lot more fun when your well researched picks go up against other well researched picks. And my team will be better, so even though it's still 4 and a half month aways (with more potential picks to come), I still have high hopes for my team next year. Still, I can't really complain about my debut performance. Despite a poor joker choice and being an idiot by leaving Leah Bracknell off the team, my team is currently at 95 points, and I think I'll likely break into the 100 point boundary, as while some picks will almost certainly see 2018, I still vie Tony Booth and Colin Meads as likely deaths, and I think that one of them will die before 2018. And that Ian Brady gut pick being successful worked so well for me, probably one of my best achievements yet. I've learned a lot my first year...

Wonder if the Living End could snatch the title again with DQSBP gone next year...

Sorry for your loss Creep.

Pioneering UK DJ Nicky Holloway, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, which has been removed by surgery. Putting this here in case relapse occurs in the future...

So Advent Avalanche is back in the top 20 again. I thought that team would never get back once it fell out, so that was a bit of a shock tbh. (I thought some certs that weren't on that team would be dead by now, but alas, many of them are still alive...)

Joao Havelange has taken his last bribe at 100 on this day, 1 year ago today.

How about the ideas and possibilities thread for 2018?

Right, so I was trying to figure out how obitable a person was, but while I was trying to figure it out, there turns out to be another person with the exact same name born in the exact same year. Which means if they make the final cut, I'm actually going to have to actually differentiate between the two people...

I'm just going to stick with Bryan Murray as Ramsey's victim unless someone else gets reported in the next two days...

The leaderboard is already up Sir Creep.

Not by the mirror or mail this time. I see...

It's been 3 months since Ben Suisala didn't obit, so I'll replace him with Dean Francis then. And yes, August 25th is correct for new transitions.

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

Hopefully, whoever they are, they win the whole thing. If you think Spade's domination is bad, there's this guy called Gerard Tierny who has won every year since 2012. Surely someone has to defeat him this year with his domination. Wonder if we can get this Gerard guy to play in the DDP... -

Of course, maybe it does make sense, considering that the education is up to the states (which in turn is also up to the districts who run them) instead of the federal government... -
DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Joey Russ replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It began in mid to late August for me and ended right before Memorial Day weekend for me. Of course, this is in my current location. Before that, it started around the same time but ended instead at the first week of June. So yes, it seems odd that they all start around different times. -
Those are just rumors running around at the moment, no?

Do we really think they'll break the record, or is it just hope from the forum that they will break it. I'm wondering if 14/50 is that ceiling that, while they hope will be broken, they'll never be able to break the glass walls. It's not that they don't have enough good names to break it (there's still plenty to choose from, it's more the fact that many of them will roll over into 2018 despite their illness because that is what always happens every year. If the record is to be broken, however, a) how much can it be broken by this year and who will join the already deceased picks in order to break the record. I personally think that 16 is a reasonable end of the year total with this year's selection, there are still plenty of good names on the list, and there's always at least one name that strikes you as still doing, but then they become a surprise hit. I can't really comment on who will be the remaining hits, imo, other than the gut feeling of Jerry Lewis, who's doesn't have any recent news of his hospital visit that he has yet to be discharged from... P.S. Whenever I place the b and ) next to each other, they always turn into this. Is there a way to fix that please...

Sounds like he's limiting his options to either all or nothing. Which could be a game changer depending what year the surgery happens, if it happens at all...
-
That makes a lot more sense now. If he was cancer free, there would be a big chance of me dropping him from my team in 2018 since relapse could happen in years, but being free of metastasis makes me more likely to keep since relapse will probably happen sooner probably than later...

Hold your horses on believing that Stefansson is cancer free. Apparently a fan misinterpreted the icelandic message...
-
I'd assume that he removed it himself. He's not the only person who did that, Tempus Fugit also removed the vast majority of his early posts as well.

Not a good year to be a country musicians then. We already lost Glen Campbell, and Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson has been ill throughout the year as well, and I suspect both of them will be gone before the end of the year...
