If you looked underneath the picture, you would read that the photo was taken in 2014. Yeah, he looked great at 97.

I disagree. He's old and doesn't seem to be in the best shape.

I've made some mistakes in my first year of dead pooling. Admitly, had I jokered Mark Sims and put my first two subs, Zandvliet and Bracknell instead of Aspin and Suisala, I might've had a serious shot of the title. That Brady punt is certainly one of my achievements of my first dead pooling though (the other major one is placing in the top 3 in Deathrace next year). I think I will have a bigger shot of winning next year. I think Sir Creep will as well, he's certainly a bright dead pooler, and I think had he made some changes to his team, he could've made it to the 20 easily.

    Thoughts On The 2017 List

Thoughts about the 43 celebrities still alive: Kirk Douglas: Still old, still frail, still think he'll die this year. Vera Lynn: Not as frail as we thought, but she's still 100, and that is certainly a grand age. Billy Graham: Getting frailer since 2006. Peter Carrington: Something tells me that it's his year. Must've been Denis Healey's fault. Prince Phillip: Looks somewhat frail, but still is doing royal duties with queen until fall. I don't think he'll make it to 100 anymore though. Denis Norden: Still frail and blind, surely it's only a matter of time, right? Pierre Cardin: Old and rusty. Stan Lee: Apart from the occasional health scare, he's doing fine at the moment, but the committee wouldn't want to miss someone as big as Stan Lee. Olivia de Haviland: She looks far better than the other 2 bedblockers at 100. I wouldn't be surprised if she's still alive ten years from now. Herman Wouk: I get the feeling that he's going to become the next Oscar Niemeyer (and no, please don't bring up that joke again). Tony Booth: Has tons of health issues, don't know how he'd still alive. Bob Dole: He'll make 2018, but I get the feeling he'll be a bedblocker to make 8 appearances. Leah Bracknell: Still has terminal cancer, still fucked. Jimmy Carter: By far the healthier of the two presidents, but he could always get a stroke. Gord Downie: Decent quality of life, but half a year is a very long time to last with glioblastoma. Leslie Phillips: Hasn't tweeted for a while, and that's never a good sign if you're very frail or have terminal cancer. Robert Mugabe: He's still being an annoying twat on the forums, but on the side of public appearance, he got a new look and looks notably frailer. Javier Perez De Cueller: Er, only Spade knows how he's really doing at the moment. Jake Lamotta: Stats show that he shouldn't be alive at the moment, yet he still is. King Michael: Still getting more iller with his cancer, and he's still hanging on. Betty White: Immortal. Let's just face that fact everyone. Nobby Stiles: Still alive after all of those getting slowly more frailer reports, and that's the thing with Alzheimer's, they can really hang on for a long. Queen Elizabeth: Unlike the Duke, I think she will make it to 100. Jill Gascoine: Same as Stiles, only not as frailer. Bob Barker: Oh, he's on there. Doug Ellis: Seriously just. Honestly, why is he here instead of Chirac or Clive James, or even Henry Kissinger for that matter. George Bush Sr: Very purple, he clearly has a lot of health issues, and I doubt he'll make it to November tbqh. Ian St John: No updates, but he has bladder cancer, and bladder is really not a good cancer. David Prowse: All I'll say is this, giants don't tend to live as long as people with an average height. Jerry Lewis: Another one I suspect will be a permanent bedblocker till he drops. Sandy Gall: Same comment as Doug Ellis. Pope Benedict: You know when people seem really frail, but then they look way healthier than expected. That's pope Benedict XVI for you. Bruce Forsyth: Notably not in public that much anymore. And he has serious health issues as well. Fats Domino: Well, just see my comments in the ideas for 2018 thread. Hosni Murbarak: Old twat with no trust at all. Desmond Tutu: African Archbishop with health issues. He also wants the right to die. Someone ominous. Akihito: Japanese government allowing him to abdicate. He must be a goner if they plan for him to abdicate. Gay Byrne: Besides being tired, nothing new on him. Glen Campbell: Late stage Alzheimer's, and the way his family is acting, 2017 should be his year. Liz Dawn: Has an operation next week. Valerie Harper: Still slowly dying.

Just a note on the Grim Reaper's obituary, he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015, not 2016. Otherwise, good obituary.

    Donald J Trump

Right, I just heard the testimony of Jeff Sessions, and based on what I heard, I'm going to predict one of the two following conclusions: 1) He is knowingly dodging questions about the Russia investigation simply by answering I don't know, which makes him less likely to be tried and imprisoned (and I say this cause many of the republicans there seem to be going lightly with some of their questions), or 2) He suffers from dementia. Either way, his testimony was absolute bullshit.

If Trump has his own thread, then May should as well. I'm not against this one.

Adam West definitely for next week. Besides that, I don't know. Errol Christie maybe, or some more obscure celebrity that no one besides the BBC has heard of before. Who knows... Maybe Chris Cornell from the archives...

I said those two cause they were my first two subs. Not because they're the most likely to die...

    Derby Dead Pool 2017

Ah, and that's two mistakes I hopefully won't make again, although if the FFBI was, say, Dr Kate Granger, then I wouldn't have as much of problem jokering them. I do wonder, if I didn't pick Aspin and Suisala and picked Van Zandvliet and Bracknell instead, and jokered Dr Mark Sims, wonder how well I would've scored with that team.

I'm tempted to put Dianne Abbott and Theresa May, plus randomize 48 other random members of the parliament.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2018

He goes off the list, he dies. Sod's law happens, and people would be angry cause they missed another well known rocker (though not as iconic as Berry for sure). And about his how well known he is, BBC obit are guaranteed, and any music buff at least knows who he is. He was the 25th greatest artist of all time according to Rolling Stone (not that I buy that, but that mean he has some more significance than expected). And you talk about your too big to miss types, Stan Lee, for example, is one thing that I agree should return till he dies, he already made multiple on the list, has the occasional health scare, and his death would be bloody massive, but Betty White, while she definitely is massive, she has no health issues whatsoever, and she only made one appearance on the list. She wouldn't get as much anger as Domino. Again, read the Patrick Moore thread if you want to see what I'm talking about.

Well, he's really fat, and he could take a sudden decline in his 90th year (or earlier), ala Berry. I think your in the minority on this one...

Sir Alec Guinness was on a ton of lists in the late 80/90s. He was massive, he was missed.

I knew he was massive, I was just trying to start somewhat like a fairy tale.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2018

I am absolutely against Fats Domino being dropped, and I'll tell you a story on why he shouldn't be dropped: Once upon a time, there was a little celebrity known as Sir Patrick Moore. He was an astronomer that got pretty famous. One day, in late December 1992, the committee decided to put Sir Patrick Moore on their list. He would return for the 1995 list, and then he came to the list for six whole years from 2005 - 2010. Then they dropped him. I think they were planning to bring him back for the 2013 list, but then, on December 7, 2012, he died. He made a total of 8 appearances on the list, yet he was never a hit for the list. Domino already made 9 appearances, it would be a much bigger disappointment to see someone who made 9 appearances, and then get dropped and die than dropping someone who is somewhat more frailer than him and only making one appearance and die. If you read the Patrick Moore thread, you can see all the rage that happened on that fateful day.
