I have an idea. We all try to predict the next death on the main deathlist, right? Since this is not just one person, but rather a community of voters who made this list, maybe we can predict the next death on the crowdsource deathlist

I've been thinking about having a Drop 40 bonus since the summer. It's time it had some significance to the game , rather than there as decoration. So I finally decided to have a go at the coding/database and did an experiment, adding Drop 40 to the HTA and altering the picks on the database (basically add Drop 40 picks as an extra column and making the necessary indication). And it only went and bloody worked, didn't it! However, I'm not going to over load the competition with bonuses, so I'm going to operate on a "one in-one out" basis and the prime candidate for deletion is the Unlucky 13 bonus. I think 3 points for a Drop 40 pick is good enough, which would be one more point than U13, but will affect more teams but conversely, a miniscule number of hits (1.26%!). An effect of this might be to encourage more mainstream picks but of course we wouldn't know who would be in the Drop 40 until it's revealed in January. It would be the ultimate blind auction! Question: Are you going to mention it next update, or are you going to wait until November or something

You guys definitely have great arguments and here is my responses to them Hawking: His ALS is getting worse, and I was thinking if it should be him or Gazza. I've decided to go with the latter Tyler Moore: Her health is getting worse, but I think it's too early Noakes: He's one of those that close, but didn't make my cut Forsyth: Same goes for him as well. Now for candidates you guys want to replace Gazza: He keeps abusing drugs, and it keeps getting worse. I'd keep him Tutu: Right now he's constantly in and out of the hospital. It may take a turn for the worse in the future Lamotta: He's one of those will he won't he candidates Carter: This is one that shouldn't be droppped for sure. He may be cancer free now, but it could easily com back in the future. Of course, we can agree to disagree, but this is what I think. In reality though, at least two of the picks I said would be dead by the end of the year.

That's presuming he will live that long.I'm going to call it. Heart attack on November 7th.

She's probably going to be the next Val Kilmer.

Jim carrey is far more funny than you'll ever be. That's why I don't deserve my own thread.
-
Wasn't it you that originally posted his death? Yes, and I'm sorry for that. I think I got excited when I saw a source reports he's dead, I was excited that we got another hit. Next time I see the death of a candidate, I'll carefully look at the article. I'm sorry for posting the fake one, I should've looked

In case anyone is still thinking that he might be dead, this will clear the truth out to you: http://www.snopes.com/2016/09/19/desmond-tutu/

Major breaking news story? In South Africa, surely. Everywhere in the West? Nah, I don't think so. He'd probably make the front page on major news sites, but hardly the most prominent spot. He's a symbol of black resistance under the Apartheid, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a South African hero, just like Mandela, but the latter was also a president and perhaps the most influential post-Apartheid politician in SA to date. He's definitely big enough that the BBC would get him. Unless someone like Bob Dylan died the same day, he would be the front page.

While Desmond Tutu's death was a hoax, another South African journalist is dead: http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/veteran-journalist-allister-sparks-dies-20160919

I think the answer is obvious: they want to harvest some clicks. They have strong incentives to report Any story that happens to originate from a janitor that works in the hospital where he was treated, or just happens to know the janitor that allegedly works in the hospital where he was treated. Even if the rumours are false, they are guaranteed to be the First to cover the story, so any subsequent report should cite Them as the primary source as the news spreads. Yeah, it'll soon turn out to be a hoax, but they aready have the clicks, don't they? On the other hand, if the rumour happens to be true, they might be the First site that covers the story. Even if subsequent news reports cite a more reliable source (hospital's spokesman), they might win the race for the social media since they might be shared/linked faster than their rivals. And social media people rarely care about reliability. Considering that his Twitter page is saying that he's alive, it has a 97% chance that his death is not true.

It's especially annoying when they are one of our candidates
-
They used that same page as evidence. It's fake
-
It's seeming to be fake. No major news sources are headlining it.
-
This reminds me of Islam Karimov.
-
He is not dead: http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/love-is-the-best-medicine-tutu-thanks-well-wishers-20160919 I saw that. The page that says he dead was fake.

Biggest 'miss(es)' by the DL Committee 2016
Joey Russ replied to Sir Creep's topic in DeathList Forum
Rene Angelil Noel Neill Gene Wilder Why is Wilder a 'miss'? He wasn't that big of a miss. However, his last appearance in public he did look very frail, so they should've known better. One that was a miss was Peter Maxwell Davies though. -
