CAPTAIN TOM'S DEATH WALK 2/50 2nd February 2021 COVID-19 personality Captain Tom Moore has died from the very same thing that brought him to fame to bring the crowdsource list up to its second score. Captain Tom was a World War 2 veteran where he was a part of the Fourteenth Army (also known as the Forgotten Army), serving in Burma during his time in the army. He eventually became an instructor after returning to the UK before he demobilized in 1946. After the army he became a sales manager in York where, apart from a single appearance on gameshow Blankety Blank, he seemed destine to fade away from the limelight completely. That all changed in April 2020 however, where he decided to start a fundraising campaign near his 100th birthday. All of a sudden, his life rejuvenated, at least as much as any 100 year old man could. He smashed his fundraising goal, and he raised over 30 million pounds by his 100th birthday. He then became a media darling, giving over 150 interviews until to his death. He also topped the UK charts, proving once again that you don't need any vocal talent to top the charts these days. Finally, he go knighted by the Queen for his fundraising efforts, and eventually was able to appear in the Guinness Book of World Records. His last year was frankly more eventful than anything I've ever done, and his constant media coverage made him a shoo in for the Crowdsource List, debuting at the 23rd spot on the list.

Well, the time has come. Congratulations to Annami and Perhaps. Both of you will compete in round 2 and I apologize that you had to spend time getting a team together for naught. Masterlist to come up in a bit...

So now there’s under ten minutes left to go, and I am still waiting on two teams who seem to have gone completely MIA, and frankly I doubt either of them will submit at this point. This is not the first time that someone did not submit their team on time if it still holds up, but it would be the first time it happened in round 1. This is really unacceptable from the two non submitters, and I’m not just saying this just because I’m the host. I have now sent four messages to both of the remaining members who have yet to send in a team, and they did not even respond to the messages I sent. So they will get disqualified if they don’t send in a team very quickly. Beyond that though, this sort of thing is really much more stressful in round 1. In the past when a team did not submit on time, there is usually a loser of some kind who gets brought into their place to replace the non submitted team, but because this is the first round, I can’t do that. So two teams now get a bye in round 1, and while it may be good for them to relax a bit, they also had to go through the pain of getting together a team, only for nothing to happen with them. Which means they wasted time to get something together. Beyond that, not only is it disrespectful to those two competitors, but had the two members not say they were competing only to go MIA, then two different members could’ve gotten a bye this time. Instead, because of their irresponsibility, the two members who would’ve gotten a bye had they not said their in were forced into this round that could’ve completely not happened. So four different people are affected by this one way or another and this is really disrespectful to all four of them. Now sometimes IRL stuff does happen, and it could prevent you from submitting a team. I understand that things do come back, but if this happens in the future you need to be honest with the host that you are unable to submit something on time so that they can prepare for the next round ahead of time without last minute stress. Needless to say, neither of these individuals will appear on a bye list for the 2022 cup and will be forced to compete in round 1 if they decide to enter. In fact, I am pretty tempted to bar both of them from competing in the cup again, but since banning hasn’t happened in the past with non submitters I won’t do that. I just want to make it very clear that not communicating with the host may not only affect the stress of their work but it could also affect other competitors as well as this time shows.
