I remember very early this year there was a video I stumbled onto from 2013 that talked about 10 musicians who surprisingly didn’t die of drugs (all ten at the time were still alive). You know how many of them died since that video 7 years ago? That’s right, only one of them died (that being Lemmy). In general, if you don’t die quickly after drug usage it’s very hard to track down when someone could finally meet their maker.

I am very familiar with how drugged up Shane was. However he seemed to have sobered up recently, and even if that point is moot you could compare him with someone like Keith Richards. Or Ozzy Osbourne. Both of whom are still alive today.

The vast majority of them are not going to get news obits when they die. If the main thing that distinguishes your pick from the others of their ilk - what makes them more newsworthy - is that they have a terminal illness (or that they're relatively young and have a terminal illness), rather than whatever they did in their career before they got sick, then they're not famous for being a [pro athlete, beauty-pageant winner, reality-TV idiot, whatever]; they're famous for being a [whatever] with a terminal illness, and they don't work as a pick in this pool. I know you can do better. 3. LIST FORMATTING: Every year I cut more corners on reminding people about how to format their lists, and every year the lists are messier and more of a chore to deal with. So I'm done being chill about this. If you don't send me a correctly formatted list I'm going to make you do it again until it's correct. Here’s me hoping that someone could take over the cup during the last few weeks of the year. If no one does take over the cup in the next few weeks then I guess I could host another year (though 2021 would definitely be my last year as host). I’m just bringing this up again as I don’t think anyone wants this great pool to die.

Yeah, the DQ’s are something that need to be dealt by me when the time comes. Which can be stressful as I had to DQ 6 names from this years list due to the 25 rule, three of whom promptly died off the list.

Yeah, my skepticism proved to be correct:

I’m going to wait and see if he actually gets pardoned by Trump rather than just sources saying that will do that, but... if this pardon is true, this would be one of the few undeniably good things that Trump has done in his term. I just hope he pardons Edward Snowden as well.

A few mid month lists came in, and I got to say this might be the most open crowdsource list period yet. Indeed, it’s very hard to tell what the final outcome for many names will be. Apart from the top two that is. They seem to runaway winners for the crowdsource list, which means I expect at least one of them to die before the starting line. But yeah, a few names back in contention after lagging behind in the early vote, while a few early vote names seem to have stagnated somewhat. But as they say, it ain’t over until it’s over...
