Thoughts and Opinions on the 2020 List

The voters of the crowdsource world never nominated Connery sadly, and as such he's a miss both crowdsource and deathlist
  5. Basically there are currently 5 states outstanding that hasn’t been called yet (well 6 actually, but it would be stunning if Alaska didn’t go to Trump in the end). These five will decide the outcome of the election, but you would much rather be in Biden’s position than Trump’s. For Nevada, it will almost certainly go to Biden. His lead is pretty narrow atm, but much of what is outstanding is in Clark County, which is very democratic. As such, Biden will probably win that state. He’s also looking really good in Pennsylvania too. While yes he’s still behind in the vote counted, much of what is left is in areas like Philadelphia that should make Biden a heavy favorite. Even more important though is if you look at the rural counties in Pennsylvania, it looks like Biden is doing marginally better in those counties as well. Honestly, Pennsylvania might not even be that close in the end. Trump will probably gain one of the outstanding states as I think he’ll narrowly carry North Carolina. What’s left of the vote might be good for Dems, but I don’t think it’ll be enough to make up the margins in that state. The real question marks are Arizona and Georgia, which looks to be some of the narrowest results. I think it’s too early to say who will end up winning those, but I wouldn’t be surprised either way. Regardless, if the trends in Nevada and Pennsylvania hold, Biden doesn’t need either Arizona or Georgia as Biden would win the presidency by 279 to 259.

The 5th Crowdsource Deathlist (2020 edition)

Just a heads up, I plan on opening up the new crowdsource thread sometime in the next 48 hours. And apologies for not catching up on obits quick enough, mental health has really been a pain in the ass for the past few months, among other irl stuff.
  7. AP projects Biden will win Wisconsin:
  8. Seems like Biden has officially won Wisconsin:
  9. I think one bright side of this election is the ballot initiatives. All of Arizona, Montana, New Jersey, and even South Dakota (which had some of the strictest marijuana laws in the state) legalized recreational marijuana whereas Mississippi legalized medical marijuana. Plus Florida voted on a $15 minimum wage. Also Oregon just became the first state to decriminalize all drugs too.
  10. Nebraska’s 2nd had already been called by multiple organizations for Biden, so Trump won’t be winning that congressional district.
  11. It looks like Biden will eke it out, but the reality is that even though the democrats will probably win they need to do some serious soul searching during the next four years (which they won’t do). One, they need to not flatly deny popular issues would happen with the American people. You can’t say no to popular issues cause then people won’t be motivated to come out for you. You can’t just run on not being the other guy, that isn’t an inspiring message. The other thing is the Democratic Party really needs to improve its minority outreach, particularly with the Latinos. A big reason why Florida was called so early and why Texas ended up being over 5 points was that his Latino outreach was horrible. Now I thought Biden would win by a decent amount in many states because of his gains with the suburban and old vote, but as it turns out those gains only seem to be relatively minor and the Latino vote was much more important. In short, the dems may have won this time, but they need to really change their strategy if they want to win in the future...
  12. Damn, these polls really do wonders to Fox News...
  13. Something is definitely up in Texas:
  14. The IA-01 margin in particular is quite off. Not saying Trump couldn’t win it, but it’s not going Republican by 15% points.
