    Deathlisters who are dead

People have different reactions to dealing with loss. You’re right for some people it’s better to discuss it on the forums to help them move on, but some people might also think the right choice for them is to take a hiatus from the forums/dead pooling in general like Dr T. It’s just different for every person.

    The Dead of 2020

So, I'm sure I'm not the only person who had Saima Thompson, BBC podcaster and owner of the Masala Wala Cafe as a potential pick for 2021. Well, scratch those plans because she's dead at 31

I think he showed up at least once since that point, but just with him privatizing when he logs in. In fact, checking his account his last post was December 31, 2017. So still hasn’t shown up for a while, but his last post was a bit more recent.

    How DLy Are They Anyway?

For me when I looked at the names available I basically ask myself do I think they’re worthy of the list or not regardless of whether I heard of them before? Apart from Gates Sr (for obvious reasons), all of them I do think deserve a spot on the list even though there are names I personally think are pretty dull.

Things seem to be speeding up slightly again. I had Judy Dyble on me. Only 8 points, but a fascinating 8 pointer at that. Like Willie K and Marian Cisovsky before that, so the times will be interesting up ahead... EDIT: A hit for 5 people, including the infamous Gerard Tierney...

There’s definitely a debate between folk about who is deathlisty and who isn’t, and I’m one of the ones with a much more lenient view. After looking her up though, I can confidently say this person isn’t deathlisty at all. I mean, Fergie fucking Frederiksen is probably more notable than her.

Jimmy Carter at least has an active post presidency, helping people whenever he can as well as being the guy conservatives always go to when they claim they care about the deficit.
  18. Biden is outflanking Trump on the one issue that carried trump over the edge in 2016:

    Donald J Trump

Here’s the problem. In a normal election year, I think Trump would win easily, and in fact I was one of the ones who really didn’t want Biden to be the democratic nominee. I thought there was a good chance he’d bungle it (he still might bungle in the debates mind, but that’s besides the point). The strategy that Biden is doing is actually brilliant, ie hide most of the time and only come out when they need him. This way, people get the best impression of him while he’s not in the public eye. Look, I think most of us think Biden is pretty bad, but that doesn’t change the fact his strategy during a pandemic is a good one. One other thing about Biden, he’s not as hated as Hillary was. With a better approval rating than her, I think more people would vote for him. Here’s another issue though, Trump’s time in office was a disaster. The thing that made him win in 2016 was the fact that he was economically populist, but when you look at his record he was perhaps the most corporate, establishment politician of all time, just with a more unfiltered way than the typical politician (I actually think that would’ve been one of the things that helps him in 2016 because he doesn’t seem fake). He also, as you probably know, bungled the COVID-19 response. When 125 thousands lives are lost from something that honestly could’ve been more preventable, the people would turn on you. Let’s say for arguments sake though that the American people overlooked Trump’s very corporate record and his awful COVID response. The thing he’s more focused on this time during campaigning is the culture war. In his Mount Rushmore speech, he gave one of the most American Exceptionalist speeches of all time. Basically, he’s saying that America is already great. That is a direct repudiation of his 2016 slogan, ie Make America Great Again. Even with the bad record, the change in his campaigning is definitely hurting his case in November. And honestly, I don’t know if the populism would’ve worked this time around anyways. The American people I think just want someone who can soothe them during a time of crisis. Look, Biden is a massive favorite at this point whether you like it or not. And this is coming from someone who’s considering voting for a Third Party candidate. Things can certainly change, yes, but if Trump continues to bungle the COVID response and campaign on how America is already great, it’s just gonna be a recipe for disaster. One thing I do agree on though, anyone who looks at George W Bush fondly because of Trump needs to look themselves in the mirror. They’re both awful. Don’t normalize a war criminal, okay?

    Kanye West

If that’s his intentions I don’t know if that’ll be that successful tbh. But my point with the filing deadlines is that there’s crucial swing states that Kanye can’t really make an impact on because it’s too late to file for president. He still hasn’t filed with the FEC. And his platform is really a joke (at least Trump ran on populism which is effective). The only vote Kanye might take is the hip hop fan vote. And I don’t know how many of them would’ve voted for either Trump or Biden tbh. One more thing I like to say. There are people who are saying that Kanye shouldn’t run because he’ll take away votes from Biden. But remind me what was Biden’s main case for winning the democratic primary. That he was the electable candidate. Almost like that it either was a lie if you’re worried about Kanye or people are fear-mongering.

    Kanye West

Well, he already missed the deadline in multiple states (that’s including potential swing states like Maine, North Carolina, and Texas), and deadlines are coming up for many states this month (including Florida, another crucial swing state). So even if he decides to run, he’s really damaging his chances of winning by how late he announced running.
