Mario Cornejo Radavero auxiliary Bishop of Lima in the 60s. Tried to get married and was dismissed from the clerical state. Participated in the Second Vatican Council and illicitly consecrated a bishop in France. He died back in 2015 but no one noticed until a few weeks ago. http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bradavero.html

I do now. Apologies for the oversight.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/07/us/pearl-harbor-uss-arizona-lauren-bruner-trnd/index.html I haven’t looked into this deeply but this article claims only three remaining USS Arizona survivors are living. I wouldn’t have thought it was quite so few.

Is this thread not redundant? Political Frailty would do just as well for everyone listed here.

I have a feeling 14th place may pay off again this year. Here’s hoping. -

Wrong thread. From Cleric to Relic is what you’re after. -
US Senator from Georgia Johnny Isakson is resigning at the end of the year. He had a growth removed from his kidney, a fall breaking a few ribs, and his Parkinson’s is progressing. I doubt he sees 2021. https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/08/28/politics/johnny-isakson-retire/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F

I think his thread would’ve been a better choice.

The copy editor of that article needs to retake their math classes. He was only 82. -

That’s Joan, Ted’s ex wife and a long time booze fiend. If true good for her bad for us, she definitely could have made the list some day. -
Long time New York District Attorney Robert Morgenthau dead at 99 ten days short of his 100th birthday. He was also the inspiration for Steven Hill’s character Adam Schiff in the original Law & Order. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/21/nyregion/robert-morgenthau-dead.html

Sir Creep, That has happened to me twice now. Watch out as it happening once makes you more susceptible in the future. -
Agreed though I think “cult actor” is a peculiar description for him. He won at least one Emmy, was nominated for an Oscar if memory serves, and his career spanned something like 60 years. It’s like calling Harry Dean Stanton a cult actor.

I’m more shocked to find out he’s still living, and I’m a bookseller.

Not quite the oldest. That honor belongs to this guy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/José_de_Jesús_Pimiento_Rodríguez Though the above was only named a Cardinal a few years ago there were others older than Sfeir up to that point. -
Larry McMurtry wrote Lonesome Dove. Brokeback Mountain was written by Annie Proulx. Spoke too soon. McMurtry did help adapt Proulx’s short story into a screenplay. Mea culpa. Though he is much more famous for Lonesome Dove which was turned into a mini-series.

No he was not indicted and I don’t believe he was ever implicated in any particular wrong doing in regard to Watergate. Point of interest, with the exception of Jean Kennedy Smith, there are now no living presidential siblings until George H. W. Bush’s.

Agreed. Definitely Jane Goodall.

Wrong thread. This belongs in Cleric or Relic. This guy is neither a Cardinal nor Catholic. -
You beat me to it. Wofford’s death brings the number of living former U.S. senators that served in World War II down to five. Some of them are famous in their own right. Hollings (SC) - 97 Oldest living former senator Buckley (NY) - 96 Brother of William F. Buckley and one of the few successful third party senatorial candidates Dole (KS) - 96 Presidental nominee ‘96 VP nominee ‘76 Evans (WA) - 93 Warner (VA) - 92 Last living husband of Elizabeth Taylor

I thought it was him when you posted the original photo. It wasn’t until a second look that I realized it wasn’t him.
