Ahh yes, forgot to mention Blankenship's "cocaine Mitch advertisement." Anyways, I do know quite a bit about the dynamics of the Senate and most competitive house races. The most interesting races are the ones with competitive primaries and two very well known candidates like Bill Nelson vs Rick Scott in Florida, Heidi Heitkamp vs Kevin Cramer in North Dakota, and Jacky Rosen vs Dean Heller in Nevada. But right now, the races I have my eyes glued to are Arizona, Indiana, and West Virginia with IN and WV holding their primaries on Tuesday. I could go in depth but I don't want to litter this thread. Just know that all 3 of those Republican primaries have their own peculariaties, crazy candidates, campaign finance stories, and razor tight polls. -
Absolutely agree. Less than 1% of voters vote based off of who the VP nominee is. I think that voters who already supported McCain could care less who his VP was, and Obama voters weren't going to support him regardless. It was the economic collapse and growing dissatisfaction with the war in Iraq that gave Obama the election. If McCain chose somebody slightly more..... coherent??? Like Tim Pawlenty, Kay Bailey Hutchison, or Olympia Snowe I doubt it would have changed much.

Not sure if this is the right thread for election coverage, so if I need, I might make the ZZL election coverage thread for this year's midterms. Regardless, this qualifies as a rant. Anyways, is anybody watching the West Virginia Senate race? It's very interesting for a state that voted for Donald J. Trump over Hillary Clinton by 42.1%, a full county sweep for the President, a feat only matched by Oklahoma and Nebraska, to have elected a Democratic Senator as recently as 2012, and even a Democratic Governor the same year as they went in packs to the polls to vote for a man of the opposite party (Albeit, the Governor switched parties in August of last year). Regardless, both primaries vying for Senator Joe Manchin's are a fucking mess, but mostly the Republican primary, with 3 major candidates. Congressman Evan Jenkins of the 3rd congressional district (the state's most conservative district, although, it is considered the most competitive in this year's house races), is the frontrunner according to a recent Fox News poll. Despite beating the other two candidates, Jenkins only sported 25% of the vote in that poll compared to 21% for Attorney General Morrisey and 16% for Mr. Blankenship. Jenkins is often considered the most moderate of the 3 candidates, having only become a Republican in 2013, 1 year before he defeated Congressman Nick Rahall in 2014. Jenkins also admitted to supporting then Senator Hillary Clinton in 2008 and he at first refused to endorse then candidate Trump in the 2016 Republican primary. Jenkins denies being a RINO (Republican-In-Name-Only) touting that he is the only major candidate in the primary that voted for President Trump in the electoral college. Jenkins is also the only candidate that has lived in West Virginia for a majority of their life. The man closely behind Congressman Jenkins is State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey. Morrisey ran for Congress in 2000 in the state of New Jersey's 7th congressional district. Having come in last in that race, Morrisey moved to West Virginia and began his career after becoming the state's Attorney General in 2013. Morrisey closely aligns himself with President Trump, having competed with Jenkins for the "Trumpian vote." In spite of his new allegiance to the President, Morrisey has been tied to Senator Ted Cruz, having even been endorsed by the Senator. The most, unhinged, candidate in the Republican primary and my personal favorite, is coal baron and ex-convict Don Blankenship. Blankenship was indicted in 2014 by a federal grand jury for conspiracy to violate mandatory federal mine safety and health standards, conspiracy to impede federal mine safety officials, making false statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission, and securities fraud. These indictments came in response to the deaths of 38 coal miners in the 2010 Upper Big Branch mining disaster. Blankenship claims the Obama justice department's "war on coal" is what caused the explosion. Blankenship has lived in Nevada recently and still pays taxes in the state. Meanwhile, for the Democrats, longshot "justice democrat" Paula Jean Swearengin is considered unlikely to win in her primary challenege to Senator Manchin. -
Speaks at the NRA convention (just over 2 months after promising new firearm regulations in wake of 17 innocent children being gunned down in their classroom), Vice President Pence also spoke. Trump unsurprisingly attacked war heroes John McCain, John Kerry, and Robert Mueller (ever heard of don't poke the bear???)

Just listened to what he said on NPR. Sounds raspy and frail, what caught my ear was "I may be gone before you read this." The book will be released on May 22nd. Very sad decline, I hope he can somehow pull through.

Read a chapter of his memoir on NPR today. I'll try to find a recording to listen to how he sounds now.

Snoop Dogg's cousin calls a "crip alert" threatening violence against West, urging crips across the country to "fuck him up" over comments supporting President Trump. Police are currently looking into these reports. Hmm. Now y'all know I am not one to EVER advocate violence but with Kanye's recent comments about slavery I won't be sad in the slightest.

His term officially ends in January 2023. Obviously he won't make it but it shows pessimism towards his future. Wonder if his memoir was written by somebody else but co-produced by him, like what HW did a couple of years ago. Sad case.

I would bet on a posthumous release.

McCain's son-in-law: "John hugged me tonight and told me to take care of Meghan." McCain is also still recovering following his intestinal surgery weeks ago.

Eh. I'm at par with last year, at this point in my first list last year I had 8 hits (Soares, Youguang, Snuka, Moore, Corey, Westhuizen, Sumner, and Rockefeller.) As of now in 2018, I have 8 hits (Elias, Falkholt, Cryne, Miller, Tsvangirai, Graham. LaFaye, and Bush.)

Judge permits Cosby to leave his house for two reasons only, to meet with his attorneys and MEDICAL TREATMENT. Probably was requested by the Cosby attorneys for a specific reason.

Cosby I think will linger on for a few years. I think he'll see 90 (Well, he can't see, but you get it).

Damn she died? A shame.....

For now, on May 3rd, at 11:59 PM she'll extend her bucket list with 15 new additions.

Well. The Kanye mental health rumors are swirling again following a slew of Pro-Trump tweets. He supposedly lost 10 million twitter followers today, but he earned shoutouts from President Trump and Chance The Rapper, with the latter exclaiming "Black people don’t have to be democrats."

Quoting this to say I was here for this prediction when George H.W. Bush dies at age 99.

Is 29th place good for a first year team at this point? I was spendidly excited after checking my placement considering there are 300+ teams.
