  2. Great idea, we should definitely revisit this once the decades are all caught up.
  3. Rather convincing initial response. That's decided, then. It's fair to say the games slightly differ in scale. I'll run them in this order as it should mean the 10s are paired with the 70s, 80s and 60s, and the 50s run with the 90s and 00s. UK No.1 Hits of the 10s 2010-11: 66 songs, 6 finalists 2012-13: 65 songs, 6 finalists 2014-15: 61 songs, 6 finalists 2016-17: 24 songs, 3 finalists 2018-19: 29 songs, 4 finalists Good grief. 3 monster rounds. UK No.1 Hits of the 50s 1952-53: 15 songs, 4 finalists 1954-55: 25 songs, 7 finalists 1956-57: 25 songs, 7 finalists 1958-59: 29 songs, 7 finalists UK official singles charts began in November 1952. UK No.2 Hits of the 10s 2010-11: 28 songs, 5 finalists 2012-13: 37 songs, 7 finalists 2014-15: 24 songs, 5 finalists 2016-17: 25 songs, 5 finalists 2018-19: 16 songs, 3 finalists Thanks Clorox for the source! UK No.2 Hits of the 50s 1952-56: 31 songs, 5 finalists 1957-59: 28 songs, 5 finalists Rather a truncated game; I can hardly do a 25-strong final when there're only 59 songs!
  4. Sheeran's music is practically all nut brown piss to the eardrum imo, as, I'm sad to say, is Beyoncé of late. Lots of good there though, and certainly enough variety to put to bed the old trope that "it all sounds the same nowadays". Fucking doesn't, even if the charts occasionally tell a different story.

Alonso's very happy where he is because he has to really fight (except with his useless team mate) to get the good points. That's where he thrives. I agree, he hasn't had his last F1 win yet. Mercedes' best chance is to focus on a complete square 1 approach for 2026, and Carlos and George would be one hell of a lineup to hit the ground running come the new regs. Red Bull will keep Checo on chiefly because his feedback on the car is so vital to their development. It's a car that only really seems to suit Verstappen, but Checo's insights have helped them extend their lead. The formiddable force, however, is Ferrari. Charles is the best qualifier, Lewis is the most successful driver of all time and he's got years left in the tank, Newey's coming onboard, and their car is already on the right trajectory. I'd love to see McLaren right at the top being a lifelong fan but my prediction is Ferrari dominance for a decent couple of years.

Hearing rumours of Mercedes agreeing in principle a contract with Carlos. This is the only correct decision IMO. Frankly, his race craft is a damn sight better than that of his current team mate. Fernando Alonso has signed with Aston Martin again anyway, until the end of 2026.

  8. Reviving this thread for another poll regarding the direction of Kill or Save. As we know, from the 1960s to the 2000s, the No.2s are almost done, and Wannamaker is waiting in the wings to get going with the No.3 games, with the 70s up first. Buuut...how many of us would be interested in doing the 1950s and 2010s as well, to complete the decade set? If there are enough takers, I'm more than happy to sort these games out for the No.1s and 2s. The plan would be to run them alongside Wannamaker's No.3s; having two games on at a time worked perfectly well before. I appreciate some might be interested in one end of the timeline but not the other, so I'll try timing them accordingly by running the 50s games during the 90s or 00s and the 10s during the 70s/80s. If there isn't enough interest, we can just carry on with one game at a time until Christmas. Or, we could move away from chart decades and go towards themed games; if this is the case, someone else can host those as I'm already custodian of the Christmas theme. What do you reckon? The new poll is up, vote now!
  9. It's very, very suspicious that every single round it's been the case that the top gets knocked and the bottom gets boosted. I've had complaints. I'll be keeping a close eye on your scores, particularly in the build up to the grand final - your first vote there will determine whether or not you partake in the rest of it.
  10. The top song just happens to be your least favourite, again, and one of the bottom songs just happens to be your favourite, again? No. I don't buy that for a second. It's beyond coincidence now. Play the game properly or get minus sixed the fuck out of here.
  11. You'll be pleased to learn KoS will be returning to the prog rock generation upon the conclusion of this game!
  12. You might be okay this time...only about a quarter of these ones have any rap in them.
  13. Fair enough, though you could always give them a skim-listen if you had the time/stomach for it?
  14. Thank heavens for small mercies. It's on YouTube though, if you must, with added Cat Deeley.
  15. Good good, that's that round done! Thanks to everyone for gratefully receiving my bribe and flicking Brandon Flowers a keen middle finger. @ladyfiona, you have next dibs on the new round if you want Speaking of which...the last qualifier before the final. 4 go through...see if you can find that many good ones. 2008-09 Fri 12 Apr (part ii) 21 Britney Spears — Piece Of Me +1 21 Sam Sparro — Black & Gold +1 21 The Noisettes — Don’t Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go) +1 21 La Roux — In For The Kill +1 20 Soulja Boy Tellem — Crank That 20 Adele — Chasing Pavements 20 H Two O ft. O.J. Simpson: Run Out Of Juice?

    Awesome post.
  19. Thank you! Outwardly at least, you seem to have it all worked out just fine. You're so right; it's not a superpower, more just a little reassuring "oh yeah, that'll be that then". Quite honestly, I think the only reason why I'm being diagnosed at 27 rather than 7 is because at school, dickhead though I was to some teachers, my work itself was fine. I know understanding has advanced in recent years but the fact that appears to have been the be-all and end-all criteria back then is astonishingly silly. I've always been very impulsive and ready to gamble; that used to be put down to cyclothymia. I've always been reticent towards people I don't know but an interruptor and borderline aloof towards those I know and love; I put down to just being a bellend. I've always fidgeted a lot, muddled words, taken a while to compose sentences I'm happy with, lost focus suddenly; I put that down to lack of sleep. When my energy and social battery is flat, it is fucking flat; a symptom of fibromyalgia, according to my doctor, so it must've been that. I've been utterly repulsed by odd things; certain textures, certain opinion schemas, unnecessary noises, unplanned phone conversations; that was put down to just being a fussy fucker. I've always had to have several things on the go at once; that was just me being easily bored. It's actually quite a sigh of relief to have something to knit it all together in a way that finally makes sense. It's embarrassing, mind, that I've been studying psychology for a while and not made, or rather accepted, the connection myself.
  20. Reform UK apologise for dropping a candidate of theirs…who was dead.
  21. Fellow neurodiverse people! I have ADHD. I think I knew that already really, it ain’t exactly a life-changing revelation, but it’s, er, good(?) to have it confirmed. Would’ve been better to have known as a kid; I might not have gotten into so much trouble for ignoring, interrupting and rejecting almost all authority. Of course, I’m totally different now… What’s even better is that this comes slap in the middle of developing a study I’m doing with a few people about whether anyone is truly neurotypical. A helpful development, this.
