A (likely non exhaustive) list of former Indian CMs who meet your age cut off @drol, as well as a few additional comments: SM Krishna (born 1932, will turn 90 on 1st March this year): Former CM of Karnataka + Minister of External Affairs. Was making public statements on politics as early as Jan of this year. B. C. Khanduri (born 1934): 4th CM of Uttarakhand, was making public appearances relating to politics as early as 2021 Manohar Joshi (born 1937): Former CM of Maharashtra and former speaker of the Lok Sabha. His nephew and fellow politician Sudhir Joshi died at age 81 a few days ago. N. Bhaskara Rao (born 1936): Short-lived former CM of Andhra Pradesh, was active in state politics as of 2019. B. B. Gurung (born 1929): Short lived 3rd CM of Sikkim. Can't seem to find much information on him, but a local paper was wishing him a happy birthday on Facebook as of 2020, and I can find no death notice for him. As noted below, however, my Deadpool research skills are limited at best. Lal Thanhawla (DOB is questionable - either 1938 or 1942): Ex-CM and longest serving CM of Mizoram, appeared in court as early as 2019. Retired from state politics in 2021 after 5 decades in the business. S. C. Jamir (DOB 1931): Served as CM and/or Governor of 5 different states, awarded Padma Bhushan in 2020. Wikipedia page is obviously propaganda, daughter died in the 1990s, mother at age 101 in 2016. D. D. Lapang (DOB 1934): Ex-CM of Meghalaya Shanta Kumar (DOB 1934): Ex-CM of Himachal Pradesh, was publically active commenting on politics as of 2021. I'm also wondering if MDR Ramachandran is still alive. There's no DOB on his Wikipedia and I can't seem to find a death notice (though I will note my research skills aren't all the greatest), but he was first elected CM of Puducherry in 1980, 40+ years ago, and I suspect if he's still alive he's definitely pushing 85. Additionally, while he doesn't make the age cutoff, Sharad Powar (born 1940) is an interesting name. Former Maharashtra CM and former chairman of the BCCI, he's still active in politics, and someone who would definitely QO, if only due to his relevance to Indian cricket. Underwent several medical procedures in 2021, including gall bladder removal, surgery for a mouth ulcer, and removal of a stone from his bile duct, all in very quick succession. He tested positive for Covid 19 in the last week of Jan 2022. Adding names here as they come to me: Mohammad Hamid Ansari (born 1937): Former VP of India, was giving interviews as of 2021 Natwar Singh (born 1931): Former Minister of External Affairs, was giving interviews as of 2021 Yashwant Sinha (born 1937): Former Minister of External Affairs + Finance, tweeting on Twitter as of Feb 16th 2022 Fali Sam Nariman (born 1929): Constitutional lawyer, former Additional Solicitor General of India

https://www.thenational.scot/news/19926804.bbcs-nicholas-witchell-suggests-prince-andrew-campaign-sex-trafficking/ Nicholas Witchell seems to think Andrew could come back and be accepted by the public if he campaigns for victims of sex trafficking. He's lost it, of course, but this seems to indicate that there's still a desire among some royals for him to return to the public eye, if they're debating ways to salvage his reputation. Of course, if this passes: Prince Andrew facing fresh calls to be stripped of Duke of York title it'll never happen, and as it stands Idea of Prince Andrew supporting trafficking victims ‘ridiculous’ says Jess Phillips Personally, I'm counting down the days until the Duke of York title is gone as well.

While this obviously doesn't function as a proper QO, I do think the acknowledgment means one should come in within the day.

As noted elsewhere, Carmen Herrera has died and QOed, keeping thing level of days v/ hits up to the end of tomorrow at the very least.

Hugh Edmeades, IPL Auctioneer, faints due to what is apparently Postural Hypotension. He's a 35-year Christie's veteran and might be an interesting reach for non-QO pools -

Have to wonder that, along with the supercentenarians being run through, if there isn't a similar thing happening with centenarians as well? All names mentioned above have died in the last 5 days (6th Feb-10th Feb), and that's without counting names already mentioned in this thread + people without English Wikipedia pages who nonetheless got local obits

Seems to be true given this article: https://www.francesoir.fr/societe-sante/leminent-professeur-luc-montagnier-sest-eteint-le-8-fevrier-2022 That said, surprised it's not been picked up anywhere else if it is true - haven't seen an English language obit for him, just this article + a bunch of Twitter stuff.

https://japantoday.com/category/national/Princess-Yoko-hospitalized-with-COVID-develops-pneumonia She's developed Covid pneumonia. Should be noted that she's pretty young (only 38). However, her father and two uncles all had significant health issues and died pretty young (father + one uncle in their 60s, second uncle in his 40s), so it might be an indication of underlying health concerns, though this is me just making a guess.

unique DDP pick, QO: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/feb/06/lata-mangeshkar-singer-bollywood-india-dies-92 Didn't think this was her year, so didn't have her on my team Two days of national mourning announced at her death.
-
Told you, for big enough names there's usually a damage mitigation period between date of death and date of announcement of death. When Bacchan and/or Tendulkar die, expect the country to literally shut down. Wouldn't be surprised if they announce official country-wide mourning holidays.

Seems he was going through radiation for cancer, which would presumably have made him significantly more susceptible to covid complications. No info re: his vaccination status, though AFAIK vaccination has been okayed for cancer patients in general (have family members doing radiation + fully vaxxed).

Monica Vitti dead at 90: https://www.repubblica.it/spettacoli/cinema/2022/02/02/news/monica_vitti-249574730/?ref=RHUO DDP pick -
equaled at 36. I think there's 4 non-obits so far, so let's see re: them, and there may be others that are announced in a day or two and/or ones I haven't seen die over the last 3-4 hours that would see the record broken
-
1 more to tie, 2 to break the record in that case?
-
With news of Fenton, that's 34 down so far in Jan (not counting the 3 non obits so far). We may have 3 more hits tonight, of course, but have I missed other people who'll have us tying the single month record already?
