So I was exaggerating, but I do wonder if she overblew her prognosis all jokes aside. She's been a month from death for what, 3-4 years now? Either that or it was bad, the cancer went into remission, and she just decided not to let people know about the remission part. So nut-job attention sponge sounds about right, only to a lesser degree. Depends on how many more similar interviews he does before the year's up, IMO. D40 is part who's the most ill and dying and part here's a famous person that will be picked regardless of health, and Trebek ticks both those boxes better than the rest in terms of worldwide. Now, no one actually wants him to die unlike some of the random D40 names (*cough*trump*cough*), but the more he comes out and says he's basically cooked, the more people will go for him over the rest - and by this I mean casual teams, not the lot of us constantly on the forums discussing D40 names.

Off topic for the thread, but I stand by my doubts re: Bracknell even having cancer to begin with.

Yeah, and it sucks - there's so few truly wholesome celebs out there, and it we're losing another one in front of our eyes. It's with people like him that I sometimes wonder about the celeb stalking the media does these days and the effect on readers - is it better to watch a beloved hero deteriorate before your eyes, or wake up one day utterly blindsided? A thought, anyhow.

Do you have the link to the list of acceptable QOs? I know it's floating around the forums, but I've lost it somewhere and it isn't linked in the main DDP site...

Remind me if the Independent is a QO again? What's the list of QO sources for the DDP? Anyhow, if it is, Independent report of Leonov's death: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/alexei-leonov-death-age-cause-astronaut-spacewalk-dead-a9151921.html Mirror should be a QO though: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/alexei-leonov-dead-85-first-20559970

Wasn't another of the science winners (physics, I think) 95 last year? Odds on us getting a centenarian as a recipient soon given this small pattern? Mind, I'm still calling no QO given precedent.

He's officially missing, and another Colombian child serial killer Luis Garavito (killed 130+ confirmed boys, so in case you were wondering, paedo as well) is scheduled to be released in a year or two because no death penalty + max sentence is 30 years in Colombia. US history, which is important. There's been a bunch of more prolific guys around the world. And this is based purely on confirmed kills - HH Holmes is supposed to have killed more than this guy, off the top of my head, but that was at the turn of the 1900s, and confirmation was a lot more difficult then. And no one's considering the 'Angel of Death' types who are medical professionals who whack patients in a way that look like natural deaths and when caught, are usually only confirmed to have a couple of kills because it's so hard to prove with these type of killings. Yes, I've been bingeing a podcast about serial killers lately, why do you ask?

Annual reminder that new winners are being announced, though they will inevitably fail to garner QOs at death.

Yup, one a month sounds about right - there's a bunch of them terminal on the list I know, but with how long they've been in the "two months to live" stage, I have no trust in diagnoses anymore (looking at you, Bracknell). If those hits are either the centenarians or Carter, I think it would be good for next year's list - if they make it through the year, they're shoe-ins to remain on the list, and as I've said elsewhere, what the main list tends to lack is a bit of creative thinking for at least one or two of the names (which is to say, take a flyer on one of the younger lot that are ill/live a high risk party hard lifestyle. They may not get you a hit, but it'll make the list all the more interesting. My advice would be go 40s or 50s, and not ones like Bracknell that are terminal, but ones like van der Westhuizen or that one American actor whose name I can't recall who has early onset dementia/Alzheimer's/some sort of memory loss illness.)

I mean, I'm still pretty sue Biden is losing his marbles (and Trrump has none at all), but it hasn't stopped either one of them yet... IMO, there needs to be a max age limit for running for President - I'd say 70 - but that'll never happen, so this sort of news will continue to happen.

Thoughts and opinions on the death list 2019
CastAway replied to The Mad Hatter's topic in DeathList Forum
I mean, I still think the list was way too conservative this year with nothing but the old ones/known terminally ill people (and even then pretty old terminally ill people). Someone like Ricksen would have been a good punt for this year, or a couple of younger names. Make it a bit more of an intriguing list rather than one that's basically 'here's an old person who'll probably die soon.' -
Honestly though, watch it be someone with 0 votes for maximum surprise.

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church
CastAway replied to Pagad Ultimo's topic in DeathList Forum
Wikipedia says that the last time the Pope created cardinals, he created 14 of them last year in June or something. Based on my utterly un-scientific method of counting the number of dead Roman Catholic cardinals since then that have been posted on this thread (not in the mood to go through all the deaths for a year+ on Wiki to see if any were missed here), with Levada's death, we've finally broken even since then - 14 created, 14 dead. There are currently 94 cardinals at or over the age of 80, with another 4 set to hit that mark before the year is out. All this is saying I'm genuinely surprised that this thread isn't needed for often. -
Probably Baker given his condition, but I swore to stick to Doulas until I'm right, so Douglas it is.

African Leaders - Despots and Democratic

Mubarak first, because I want to know which DL member pops up in the forums once he's dead. -
If we're talking about Jeopardy candidates, has anyone considered Johnny Gilbert? Purely age related - he's gone 90. That he's still announcing says he's in decent health, but at that age, being old is a legitimate cause of death.
-
Former President of Chad, Lol Mahamat Choua, dead at 80. He was President for like 6 months and seems to have been a puppet President installed by the Niigerians, so jury's out on how relevant he was, but he's still dead.

Thoughts and opinions on the death list 2019
CastAway replied to The Mad Hatter's topic in DeathList Forum
I don't know how likely that is - as ridiculous as it sounds, the 100+ crowd on the list seem to be perfectly happy to continue living, and I've always felt them to be the most likely to randomly pop off when a hit is desperately needed. That said, if any hits are to happen, hoping for some of the perennial bedwarmers on the list to clear out so there's at least some talk as to who'll be brought over to next year.
