Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war
CastAway replied to the_engineer's topic in DeathList Forum
The situation in Mariupol is increasingly looking like it's a matter of days, if not hours. On humanitarian grounds, it's going to be an utter catastrophe, even worse than what it is rn. In terms of names coming out of there, keep an eye out for the statuses of Denys Prokopenko, Azov leader in the city, and Sergiy Volyna, the head of the team of Ukrainian marines fighting w/ Azov. Both are saying they'll go down with the city, and I fully expect they'll refuse to be captured come what may. If they do go down, they'll be the biggest military names the Ukrainians have lost since the start of the war, I'm pretty sure. -

New Russian Major General death, this time confirmed by the Russians and everything -
Presumably because it's the people who'd be affected by the term/age limits that would have to make and agree to them - and I really can't see how you'd get a majority for it without a major scandal (like, mentally unfit to serve but actually becomes President" type scandal). Neither party will agree to term/age limits either and both have multiple geriatrics representing them in Congress, so supermajorities and control over Presidency doesn't matter either like it does for some other issues.

In other news: Russian oligarch in exile Nevzlin claims Shoigu is either disabled or a dead man walking after a major heart attack that has left him hooked up to a million machines. To no one's surprise, the heart attack was reportedly not a natural occurrence -

The Moskva was the ship of "Russian warship go fuck yourself" fame This happened either day of or day after (depending on your time zone) Ukrainian postal services officially released the Russian warship go fuck yourself stamp. Ah, I love the smell of trolling in the morning. -
Russia confirms major fire onboard the flagship of the Black Sea fleet, the Moskva. Per multiple Ukrainian sources, the cause of said fire was two anti-ship Neptune missiles hitting the Moskva.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleksandr_Rzhavskyy Former Ukrainian PM candidate Oleksandr Rzhavskyy killed in Bucha. Irony of ironies, he was extremely pro-Russian during his campaign, though he seemingly changed his mind when the invasion happened (if I'm reading the translation of the death notice correctly). He was 63. https://cripo.com.ua/news/war/v-buchi-p-yani-okupanti-zastrelili-eks-nardepa-ta-kandidata-v-prezidenti-oleksandra-rzhavskogo/ -
From a couple of days ago: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2022/04/01/russian-soldier-dies-radiation-poisoning-chernobyl/ Russian soldier dies from radiation poisoning in Chernobyl: Serviceman was part of a unit camped in the toxic nearby Red Forest, clueless about what they were being exposed to

Twitter chatter for the last couple of hours that he's dead, though IDK how far to believe it - nothing from any verified accounts. Still, putting it here just in case it's actually true

He's in his 60s, and league execs tend to have to be pushed out the door in their 80s (see: Lou, L.) and they don't generally leave willingly for no reason
-
Pelosi tested positive Just a normal positive test wouldn't be relevant enough to post here, but should note that she's in her 80s, so might have bearing

Igor Belanov apparently literally fighting in the trenches (he doesn't seem to have social media, so no clue if this is just a photo op and he's doing more support work or he's actually literally fighting. He's 62, so he's not covered under the government's order requiring men 18-60 to stay in the country and fight). -
Duma confirms Zhirinovsky's dead, which I know will be of interest here

Okay, I dug into it a bit, and it seems it was an honest mistake - the morons at the Spittin Chiclets podcast, which if you haven't heard of it includes ex-NHLers and is a major name in the business, tweeted that Bossy had died. about 5 minutes later, the tweet was deleted, but by then the damage had obviously already been done. that said, given it was a proper tweet from Chiclets, I'd suspect Bossy's got maybe a day or two, a week if you're pushing. if he survives the month and makes it to the next round of the Deathlist Cup I'd be surprised, let's just say that.

Doesn't seem like a reliable website or reliable news - there is no hockey insider reporting his death, no Twitter chatter that he has passed away. While he's no doubt very ill, I'm very suspicious of a random blog announcing someone's death based on random Twitter people's claims, so. Going to wait for a proper report on this one.
-
News on Twitter that Mike Bossy is in palliative care battling lung cancer.
-
well, I continue to hope for some good news in the middle of everything else, so Le Pen it is

Jean Marie le Pen, for no other reason than some good news would be nice

Lithuanian filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravicius reportedly killed in Mariupol at age 45. -
I'm including no tweets or articles here due to the graphic nature of the images attached. However, horrific reports are tricking in from Bucha, a suburb of Kyiv. The city of about 30k people (population per Wikipedia) was liberated from Russian troops just over a day ago. Now, images of dead civilians lying on the roads with their hands tied behind their backs are coming out, as well as reports that the Russians went door-to-door and killed every man of fighting age (between 18-60).

Missed this one somehow. Mykola Kravchenko, prominent member and apparently one of the founders of the Azov Battalion, was killed during the Battle of Kyiv on 14th March. He was 38: https://nv.ua/ukr/kharkiv/zaginuv-nacionalist-shcho-stoyav-bilya-vitokiv-pravogo-sektora-novini-harkova-50225521.html
