From what I can figure, his family released a statement to that effect on his website give or take 4 hours ago at time of writing this post: https://philipzimbardo.com/ Not sure why none of the typical publications haven't picked it up yet, but I wonder if they're distracted by the Sinwar news

Actually not that big of a deal - there's a lot of people going no phones at least for the ceremony because people with phones insist on taking pics and often stepping front of and ruining the pics from the professional photographers (don't ask how many stories I've heard of key moments like the first kiss being ruined in pics because of an overeager guest). Now, no pics during the reception does seem a bit much, but depending on who was getting married (aka degree of relationship to Michael) and how many people were there, I can see it being agreed w/ the bride and groom beforehand.

By all accounts, he seems to be holding on to be able to vote. Early voting in Georgia opens in 2 weeks + they count your vote even if you die between then and counting the votes/declaring the winner, so news may kick up once more around then

DDP hit for me - though I have to say I'm kind of surprised, after the first couple of months of this year i just figured he was a wasted pick -

Specifics on Thorpe's death coming in the inquest, seems he walked in front of a train: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/aug/13/graham-thorpe-died-after-being-struck-by-train-inquest-told-cricket Utterly heartbreaking for everyone involved -
My guess is producers don't want to sell them for death penalty reasons because they get bad press, so they hike up the prices as much as they can

Utah executes Taberon Honie (Wiki) for rape and murder of his ex-girlfriend's mom, as well as the sexual abuse of one of the murder victim's granddaughters. He was 48 and had been on death row for 25 years. He seems to have confessed to it (though blamed it on fetal alcohol syndrome and having brain damage from a fall as a teen). This is the first execution in Utah since 2010 and took place via lethal injection. https://www.deseret.com/utah/2024/08/08/utah-executes-taberon-honie/

I'm getting the feeling he's dead and there's a moratorium on announcing it by the family - though I;m surprised TMZ hasn't published an opinion either way

honestly this should have been a lesson learned a long time ago, especially taking into account how old/in disrepair the Iranian military helicopters are doesn't help that they have both #2 and #3 after the Ayatollah in the heli -
Not sure what's cheap about it? That I got it from Wikipedia originally? Sorry, very confused here, but maybe that's just me I guess

Huh? I found out about it on Wikipedia, sure, but if it was posted on the forum previously I couldn't find it through the search function

As long as they don't cast either Tom Holland or Timothee whats-his-name as Beren... But yeah, if they ever get the rights to the Silm there are several stories that could be done as standalones (or I guess they wait until it hits the public domain in the UK? It'll take forever to hit public domain in the US)

Wasn't sure where to pop this, but this thread seemed appropriate: Ramón Fonseca Mora, co-founder of Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, which was caught up in the Panama Papers leak, dead at 71. He and his partner and law firm were also generally caught up in a bunch of other corruption and money-laundering scandals and were associated with a bunch of despotic regimes: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-68986408
