How can you possibly get "bacchanalian" right and then bollux "buffoonery"? Bollux ? I get it... Use a word that doesn't exist, then no-one can say that you mis-spelled it! or did you mean bollix? Crimony, the Scots even spell things oddly... Edit: Gonna lose this one, aren't I?

Note to Eileen: The bible got it wrong; love of religion is the root of all evil. It requires unreasonable belief in irrational deities to commit the worst of attrocities. Christ was a good guy, but the actions taken in his name have made him the devil. As far as I'm concerned, the bible is a book of fun and informative stories that have been perverted into pure evil. May you and your god rot in whatever hell the afterlife, should it exist, can provide. Personally, I believe in the church of It's None of Your Freaking Busines if They Don't Affect Your Freedoms.

Er... A bacchanalian or a buffoon? Don't say both, please, they are rather mutually exclusive, regardless of those whom would like to be called both.

I have one called Percy too. He's pink and large, but there the similarities end! As well as the similarity to "large", eh?

I simply had to be pedantic Past tense, you pedantic sod. I speak, and write, American.

George Kennedy is a very private man, quite the gentleman as a matter of fact, and I very much doubt we will ever have a clue as to his imminent demise. I have had the very great pleasure of his company on several occasions and never failed to be impressed by his gentility, as it so belied his screen persona.

Delerium tremens is the "medical" term for alcohol withdrawal, and it's only very rarely fatal. Withdrawal form heroin, other opiate derivatives, and severe stimulate addictions can be as bad or worse, with a similarly rare fatality rate. It's odd that the "other" withdrawals don't have similarly familiar "medical" terms; sort of an homage to the societal acceptance of alcohol addiction over other drugs. Amanda, get over it, there's nothing you could have done, and he's dead already. He just doesn't know it yet. (Harsh, I realize, but true, nonetheless. And live with the "z", damnit.) And, Josco, as an aside, the pink elephants are symptomatic of the drunken condition rather than the withdrawal. Mine's called Percy.

After taking a shot at Josco's pedantism, I simply had to get pedantic with the title of this thread. Mod abuse? You be the judge.
-
The term parts company has a decidedly inhospitable ring to it. Remind me never to accept a dinner invitation to Josco's house.

They don't disappear, three-headed one (well, okay, one did, but it was temporary), they merge into the thread where they belong, as this one just did.

Bowling Great Dick Weber Dies By Associated Press ST. LOUIS — Dick Weber, one of bowling's first national stars and a three-time bowler of the year, died Sunday night. He was 75. Weber died in his sleep at his home in the St. Louis area, said Steve James, retired executive director of the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. A cause of death was not immediately known. Weber had just returned from the opening of the congress' championships in Baton Rouge, La. James said he spent Sunday morning with Weber, who gave no indication he was ill. "He was a lot bigger than the tour," James said. "He was probably the best-known bowler worldwide." Weber was one of bowling's first national TV stars, at a time when ABC broadcast bowling events on Saturday afternoons. He initially drew attention as a member of the Budweisers, a five-member St. Louis bowling team that held the record for highest team score for more than three decades. In 1958, he was a founding member of the Professional Bowlers Association, and he went on to win 26 PBA Tour events and six Senior Tour events. He was national bowler of the year three times, in 1961, 1963 and 1965. His son, Pete, is second on the career PBA money list. Both father and son are members of the PBA Hall of Fame. Dick Weber was also a member of the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.

Crimony, I go away for a few days and miss all the fun! Skiing was so good it was worth it though. Memorable Quotes from Deep Throat (1972) Linda: How would you like it if you had balls in your ears? Dr. Young: [pause] I guess I could hear myself coming!
