This is one of the unfortunate features of the search function there. You have to enter the name EXACTLY as it is officially spelled, meaning all accents and other uncommon features that I'm not even sure my keyboard has. Copy/pasting from Wikipedia works, and in Gérard Depardieu's case worked as well- he is there. Vietnamese politicians are especially fun- try typing Võ Văn Kiệt, as an example. He's not on the site, and is dead since 2008, but there are many other examples like him.

I think they make things too hard for themselves. To me, having a dedicated wikipedia page is enough to qualify as celebrity. Granted, some of them are pretty niche, and I may never have heard about them, but they are obviously famous in some circles, and who am I to judge?. It also eliminates the FFBI types and family of celebrities for the most part, and keeps the interest level up. Keep it simple and accessible.

Coronavirus death toll 2020

And if that don't work, try this: -
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that it seems to be taking a VERY long time for the admin on the site to process the requests for celebrities to be added? I have had a number of them pass away while waiting, including the recently passed Laura Smith. I must have submitted her 2 months ago. It used to take a few days, or a week max. It seems that they have just said screw it and given it up. Not that they were ever that accommodating before anyway, with the much larger majority being denied.

It's been fairly quiet on our Fossorius Endeavor pool over at DSCDP. Haben die Spaten maintains his lead, but the frenzied action has definitely slowed for now. Temporary state of being, I'm sure. However, on other fronts, Haben die Spaten and myself are now 1-2 in the site wide standings. Matthew Watkins was a big hit for me (139 points) in some of my other pools, launching me forward in many pools. I'm not sure why I didn't have him in our pool, but that's the way it goes sometimes. So many names, so little room on the roster....

Gah, I unjokered Laura Smith this month, but at least I still had her. Looks like I am becoming the king of leading on technicalities. Anyhow, still 2 more Smith's on my list.

Rumors going around that Benard Tapie is nearing the end, although he seems to deny it. Apparently he is losing his voice, which has put an end to his theatre ambitions at the very least.

Alan Turner, who drew on Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and more in acclaimed paintings and drawings that could be humorous, disturbing or poignant, died on Feb. 8 at his loft in Lower Manhattan. He was 76. The poet Lee Briccetti, his partner of almost 20 years, said the cause was progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative brain disorder. He had been in home hospice care for some years.

Someone wants this guy dead. Aslan Bzhania, a candidate for president of Abkhazia and former head of security, has been poisoned for the second time in less than a year. You'd think a former head of security would be more careful.

What do you mean? They love spending lavishly. As long as it's someone else's money, mind. -
Phil Prince. So close, so close..........

dead Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh

Given the state of tabloids/media, I find it very implausible that an acute illness could be kept quiet this long. But stranger things have happened I suppose. -
And another one, Killer Tim Brooks, enters hospice care as well with terminal cancer. A guy might get the wrong idea and think that these professional wrestlers didn't live great lifestyles in the day. It would be interesting to see some stats on rates of cancer and other organ disease illnesses in this group compared to the general population.

OK, now that the Cup has started, we can post some of these. Rip Oliver, not doing so well it seems. End stage heart failure.
-
Quote from Sir Creep in another post: I can confirm my Joker will be unique. To be fair, though, I thought Rip Oliver was a sneaky one too, and I think everyone has him? Level of competition is insane.

PM sent Joey. My team is entering the field of play.

Except........ I have Tobin too. It will have to be someone else.

Are we even sure that that's actually him? I would never have recognized him from that picture.

By the way, another example of an absolute shit wheelchair. It makes me cringe when I see people supported (or not) like that. If that is indeed a chair he has to spend more than 2 hours in each day, his COD will be septicemia from the massive pressure wound he gets on his ass. More likely it's a case of "Here Mr. Caan, sit in this while we wheel you in to the store" and he is still walking around for the most part. Either that or he has incapable care-givers.
-
Was James Caan a bad man? I really don't know any of his personal history, but I can't think of any other reason for having the word 'KARMA' stencilled on the side of his wheelchair (look through the back wheel near the top). Somebody out there shares our collective sense of humor.

Also, what we do here.... -
I've never actually seen a fly drop. In fact, they are almost impossible to hit if you try to smack them. Where the heck did this saying come from?
