    The 100 Club

Tunku Ampuan Najihah, Malaysian Queen Dowager of the state of Negeri Sembilan and Queen of Malaysia 1994-1999 on her 100th birthday yesterday:
  2. I agree with this part. October seems to have a lot of Immortal birthdays (Chamorro, Carter, VS Achwhateverhisnameis) and I really can't see all of them making it. Let me check: 1 Oct: Chen Ning-Yang, 101, Jimmy Carter, 99 6 Oct: Hu Qili, 94 10 Oct: Zou Yu, 103 17 Oct: Yang You, 106 18 Oct: Violeta Chamorro, 94 20 Oct: V.S. Achuthanandan, 100 21 Oct: Driss Guiga, 99 23 Oct: Zhu Rongji, 95

Shane. This is the most recent image apparently from yesterday and I think he looks even worse than in the images from a week ago:

    Mohamed Al-Fayed

It is legitimate, Nile FM. However I can't see any other legitimate place reporting it, I wonder if this was a premature announcement. Worst case scenario another Debenedetti hoax.

    Who are the immortals?

New Buthelezi update here, apparently: https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2023-09-01-buthelezi-still-not-out-of-hospital-daughter-says-burn-wound-to-blame/ According to his daughter the story of him having been burnt by a hot water bottle is true and the wound is still healing, which is the only reason he's still in hospital. However he was on life support until last week with pneumonia, surgery and diabetes complications etc. Of course he's now recovering fastly and could communicate well on his 95th. The most absurd part of the article is that they're saying "he won't live forever".

African Leaders - Despots and Democratic

Paul Biya or whoever controls Biya reshuffles defence ministry in fear of coup. I was expecting they'd kick some of the ancients out, but apparently it's just the defence ministry central administration. Recap: President Paul Biya is 90, President of the Senate Marcel Niat Njifenji is 89 next month, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces René Claude Meka is 84 as is state oil company head Adolphe Moudiki, President of the National Assembly Cavaye Yegue Djibril is 83, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals Laurent Esso is 81, Senate VP Geneviève Tjoues is 79 as is Jean Nkuete, the head of Cameroon's ruling party's central committee. In addition there are a few other octogenarian senators and ministers. Feinstein and McConnell would fit there quite well. Seems Ebenezer Moses Debrah who I've mentioned here once died in May at 94.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo aka. Don Neto and Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo were some of the largest Mexican drug lords in the 70s, 80s. Fonseca Carrillo (who was last mentioned around a decade ago here) was suffering from cancer in the 2000s, is now around 93 or possibly "only" 81 (according to the DEA) and has been in house arrest since 2016 "because of old age and declining health". Felix Gallardo is (or claims he is) suffering from every known ailment as mentioned by gcreptile some months ago. Sir Owen Glenn is still alive (suffered from serious cancer and other ailments years ago but hasn't been mentioned here much since), but was wheelchairbound in February. One to keep an eye on.

Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war

Now Strelkov Igor Girkin wants to challenge Putin in the 2024 elections, calls him "an extremely gullible person", "led by the nose by Ukraine and the West"... "I consider myself more competent in military affairs than the incumbent president, and certainly more competent than the defense minister," Girkin said in a statement announcing his candidacy.

Foreign Personalities, From Stage, Screen, Politics And Life

96-year-old Aira Samulin falsely said to have died. She says she's in "excellent physical and mental condition" and was somehow confused with a massive wooden bull artwork (that had fallen down) in a tourist attraction she owns.

    Mitch McConnell

Judging on that video, I think it's 50/50 if he'll be alive this time next year. The part where he freezes, his eyes widen and slightly roll into an unnatural position reminds me of that video from a decade ago of an Indian local celeb dying on live TV from a stroke/heart attack, can't remember the name right now. Edit: MN Vijayan, Malayam academic.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2024

Satsvarupa dasa Goswami described as "very, very fragile at this point" on his facebook. He suffers from atleast COPD, Parkinson's, diabetes, arthritis and other chronic health problems. He's known to have exaggerated being ill decades back but now he seems very ill and has been partially on oxygen in recent years.

    Hospitalised!

Stroke, they're saying he's either already out of danger or "haemodynamically stable". I wouldn't be suprised if this turned out to be more serious, isn't this is the guy who said Shivakumara Swami was "fully recovered" some days before the Swami died?

Reports that Gabon dictator Ali Bongo has been couped by the military. https://www.dw.com/en/gabon-military-seizes-power-after-reelection-of-ali-bongo/a-66668078 If true, end of the 56-year reign of the Bongo family.

    Comedians & Comedy Writers

Recent photo of Shecky Greene, Barbutti, Nelson Sardelli and Jimmie Walker, taken 30th or 31st of July at "a celebration of what would've been Pat Cooper's 94th birthday": Shecky is 97, has used drugs and alcohol for most of his life, sarcoma of the ribs, cancer, fall in his 90s, bipolar and depression, yet he looks better than nearly all of those others in that room.
