I was looking through the list of MPs not sitting at the election and the party leader list was just below, which is how I found out that apparently Neil Hamilton quit as UKIP leader last week, that would've been headline news a couple of years ago but this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Yesterday it was announced that the series finale is getting midnight screenings at some (although it seems to be most) cinemas, tickets are now on sale. https://www.doctorwhoincinemas.co.uk/ I've booked as soon as it went live, normally screenings like this are inaccessible as there is no-where nearby showing them but my local cinema is doing it this time so I pounced on the chance, the only issue is getting back home at half one in the morning.

I agree with you, he had collected them over a long time and had them all organised by year and type of coin, all wrapped up in separate paper tubes but when he died my uncle got his hands on them temporarily and ripped all the paper open to take all of the silver coins to sell, so by the time I got them it was mostly coppers and they all just loose in a small cardboard box. They sat at the top of a wardrobe for about a decade until the other month when I was having a clear out and thought someone else can get some actual enjoyment out of them. The only ones I've kept are the few Georgian coins, a selection of ceremonial coins/medals for things like Churchill's death or the Silver Jubilee, and a single Yugoslavian Dinar that was in there for some reason, because I think those ones are cool.

I'm not a coin collector but my great grandfather was and I somehow ended up inheriting a large box full of pre-decimalisation coins, mostly post 1900 with about two dozen from the 1800s and five(ish) from the 1700s most of which eroded to a point where you can't read the date but there's one from 1747. As I don't really have an interest in them, I donated most of them to a local antiques shop two months ago.

I watched it last night to avoid spoilers, absolutely loved it, just watched it again now and it was possibly even better the second time round. Brilliant performances, tremendously beautiful dialogue that I expect from Moffatt and excellent (and very relevant) political commentary. Again continued the intrigue in both Ruby's mystery and Susan Twist's character, who had a surprisingly large role in this episode, and I'm assuming from the next-time trailer we're getting some answers next week on at least one of those. Varada Sethu was great, wonder if it will be that character who will be the new companion or if it will be another Freema Agyeman situation.

I know that after Wallace was shot he apologised for his previous actions and things like and did seem like a different(ish) person but it's always been a belief of mine that his character and attitude before the assassination attempt was not entirely sincere and about half of what he did and said was in order to get publicity and support, he was a deeply horrible racist person but things like the famous blocking of a school entrance would not have been something he would have done would it not have gained him support in his own state and increased his national recognisability. I also doubt his own bigoted views changed much (if at all) afterwards, I think he just realised that the position he held was becoming increasingly unpopular and dangerous and he was again just doing whatever would help him stay in power, and now stay alive. So I doubt Fico will change.

There are 4 people I haven't heard off, 2 I only know because of this site and of the remaining 4 Gelder is someone you might recognise but isn't particularly major, Savident isn't internationally known. Corman and Hill are the only 2 BIG names I'd say out of those you provied. Another 4 I haven't heard of, then Walsh is one of those who you know the face but not necessarily the name, Wright and Lavender are pretty UK centric. Weathers is the only BIG death here. That being said I don't think this year has been as bad as the actual list might suggest (it's still not good though). Other than the people already mentioned I'd say Alexei Navalny, Brian Mulroney, Beckenbauer and OJ Simpson are the bigger deaths so far.

I was thinking last night but this is the 3rd time a companion's second adventure has featured them being covered in the bodily fluid of some alien, Rose gets spat on by the Moxx of Balhoon in The End of the World, Amy gets digested and thrown up by the space whale in The Beast Below and now Ruby has had snot splattered onto her head in Space Babies. You could even make a case for it being the fourth time, if you class Mickey as a proper companion as in his second appearance he gets covered in Slitheen guts in that two parter.
