Roger Kirkpatrick The top-flight referee who was a familiar face on our TV screens in the 60s and 70s has died aged 81. His bushy sideburns earned him the nickname "Mr Pickwick". Not a very good picture in the article, so the one below should server as a better reminder.

has not died... according to his family. His sister says he's dead, then changes her mind. Doubt he'll make the weekend tbh. Tossing his name out as "trainer Manny Steward" like he was just some low-tier schmuck is a bit weird, the man was Mr Kronk's Gym. Hearns, De La Hoya, Cotto, Chavez... this guy was behind the best of the past 30 years. And now reports that he died half an hour ago. BBC Report That's got to be confirmation that he's dead. Nobody could possibly question the integrity of the BBC!

-
Gregory Powell "Gregory Powell, who was convicted of killing a Los Angeles police officer during an infamous kidnapping that inspired Joseph Wambaugh's true-life crime book "The Onion Field," has died in prison at age 79". James Woods played his character in the film of the book. Book and film both excellent in my view, despite featuring Ted Danson playing the bagpipes!
