Strange! 2 guys who had cameo roles in Beatles films: Ivor Cutler in "Magical Mystery Tour" and John Junkin in "A Hard Day's Night". Maybe Sir Paul could take a hint...

Not very observant? The RAC route planner calculates the distance between Edinburgh and Berwick as 57 miles. No self-respecting taxi driver (especially a Scot!) is going to refuse that fare! I'm sure he will have charged for empty the return journey too!

Cyril Smith (his recent fall is noted elsewhere on the site). Now 77 years old, which is pretty good going for a man of his size! -

Rebecca Carranza, "inventor of the tortilla chip" (supposedly) has died aged 98 Again, maybe should be on the "not exactly famous" thread, though as a lover of tortilla chips, I believe she deserves to be more famous!!!

Roy Alon "The World's greatest stunt man" Stunt ace Roy is dead (from Daily Mirror) Aged 63, had a heart attack apparently. Probably not how he would have liked to have gone! Sorry if this has already been reported, couldn't find any previous entry.

Hmm, thought it was him! He was featured on a programme shown last year, where he an a younger guy were vying for the "Britain's fattest man" title? I seemed to recall that the conclusion was that the younger guy weighed more than him, and he was really pissed off by this and refused to accept it. Have I got this wrong? Has the younger guy died or gone on a diet? We need to be told!!! Are "fattest" and "heaviest" the same thing - the latter would appear to be more definitive - discuss. Hopefully someone can enlighten me by the time I get back from the chippy with my jumbo fish and chips!

Of a heart attack! Who would have predicted that?! The Daily Record's take on the story is here

Jazz drummer Sherman Ferguson dead at 61 "played on more than 80 albums with Dizzy Gillespie and George Shearing among others"

Peter Ladefoged ... OK, he's pretty obscure, but I did have to study his books at Uni. As the article states, he also had a part to play in the success of "My Fair Lady", so something of a claim to fame there.

Celebs Who've Died On The Job
VSBfromH replied to Brinsworth House Baiter's topic in DeathList Forum
It's just an urban myth, of course, but: Catherine the Great A quote from the article (take care not to piss yourselves laughing, folks!): "Not being a native speaker of Russian, Catherine once mistook the word ещё (/yeshchyo/ - more), consisting of 3 letters, as истчо (/istcho/), consisting of 5 letters. That gave rise to a popular Russian joke: how can 5 mistakes occure in ещё? " Damn, if that is an example of Russian humour, I would've topped meself! -

Famous enough for me (see here)! Here's a link: Birgit Nilsson obit Good ol' (?) Wikipedia is reporting that she died on New Year's day and the funeral was today - seems the news took a while to get out. (P.S. Congratulations on the early spot, CrapBastard - this was the only link I could find when I first looked following your post, now they are multiplying like crazy as the news gets around!)
