Things to do while waiting for Death ... 2004

Here's a time filler. Discover some new molecule and come up with a more ridiculous name than any of these. Could be tricky! Are these for real?! -

On a par with the Rev. Canaan Banana! -
I posted this on the "dead losses" thread already.

Peggy Ryan had pegged out, apparently. To quote the LA Times: "Peggy Ryan, the tap-dancing partner to Donald O'Connor in more than a dozen film musicals in the 1940s and an actress who served as Jack Lord's secretary on television's "Hawaii Five-O," has died. She was 80" Donald himself ducked out in 2003. The partnership can now be recreated!

He's going to come to a sticky end! -
How about Bill Maynard (a.k.a. Claude Greengrass, Selwyn Froggett). Only 76, but had to stop "Heartbeat" due to a "series of strokes" a few years back (stop, heartbeat, strokes - so many puns presenting themselves in that one sentence!). Did the search thingy and can't believe he's not been considered before now!

Oh bugger! I got beaten to the "Alice doesn't live here anymore" quote. However, I was going to leave out the word "here"...
-
... not the former Spurs "hard man" then!
-
Deeply shocked here too! With him and Robert Merrill gone in the same week, there will be some damn good sounds heard beyond those pearly gates from now on! He is (was) one of those people you assume would always be around. Unlike his contemporary, Sir Jim of Stoke Mandeville, for whom swap the word "assume" in the above sentence with "lament"...

I see he's been mentioned on here before, but I would like to nominate him: Still on that bus! Another one I assumed had started pushing up the daisies year ago! -

The composer Malcolm Arnold is knocking on - he will be 83 on Thursday and has not been in good health for some time according to (amongst others) the link below. Suddenly This Winter? Wrote some great music, including scores for the "St. Trinians" films, "Whistle down the Wind", "Suddenly Last Summer", "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness", "The Bridge on the River Kwai", "Trapeze", "Hobson's Choice", "Albert R.N." and many more. Also the tune that was then used as the theme for "What the Papers Say", along with many other great classical pieces. -
As detailed here: Urban legend

That would be this "story": Yuk!

Ha! At last I get a scoop! Looks like I beat you by a matter of seconds, Anubis!

Never heard of this guy, so he wouldn't have qualified anyway. I just thought the name was ripe for a pun! Bye Bye!
-
I suggest we start the bidding now...

"Suffered from throat cancer and had parts of his larynx removed" According to IMDB, Jack (born 27 April 1922) has been involved in something called "When do we Eat?" in 2004, following a gap of 7 years when he's done nothing, so maybe things are picking up for him! Haven't found any other notes on his recent health (but to be honest, haven't really looked any further than this!)

Don't worry, I got castigated this morning for the same reason (see Jacques Derrida entry) Hmm, a "fantasy death league" Something I've mused over. However, if it got too competitive, wouldn't want the possibility of "celebs" being bumped off by the participants, would we!

Beam him up, now! Drop Dead Fred Keep up!
