Absolutely spot on. In general due to ever increasing government interference we are becoming dependant on unelected bureaucrats to make all our decisions for us. The all pervasive 'Health & Safety' culture has absolved all from blame, everything is someone else's fault; every issue or problem generates 'knee jerk' legislation from them, often with ill thought out consequences. The risible idea that 'the man from Whitehall knows best' has gained credence among the chatterati, freedoms are being extinguished with alarming rapidity. In the UK one in three adults depends entirely* upon the government for their income, this cannot go on, it is economic madness. But this current administration has embarked on a 'scorched earth policy' knowing that they will not be elected again next year and the incoming government will have to make such unpopular decisions that they will surely be voted out again. *These include the 3 million unemployed (and the unemployable), nurses, doctors, police, traffic wardens, quangocrats, BBC employees, street cleaners, Customs & Excise workers, the military, 501,000 civil servants (sic) and innumerable others whose only purpose is to tell me what to do and how to live my life.

I find it difficult to understand how a talentless nobody, who is not in mortal peril or danger*, can elicit 70 pages within these esteemed pages. Even more baffled as to why the eldest Josco Junior regards him as a genius; what does a hormone ravaged adolescent 18 year old know? *Maybe a raised danger level due to lifestyle choices, but many a young buck has survived worse.

For the first time in my life, Alex Salmond will not be my MP. Any Any..... What were you going to say? Any way, Alex's referendum will not work. There are limited options for Scotland's independence, the fiscal lights are going out around the world and small countries will suffer most. However, GB's fiscal outlook is the bleakest of the lot so perhaps Scotland should align with Norway (or even Iceland!)

Although that particular petition is neither spin nor propaganda, but an expression of an earnest wish from a very large section of the population based on genuine concerns, I think the current government couldn't be accused of pots and kettles if they called other people ignorant leftie scum. Apart from the "ignorant" bit obviously. And "scum". Just re-reading this tonight and think I may have been mis-understood. By saying that all "petitions are spin and propaganda", I meant that the Government petition website is just spin, not the earnest populace that propose and vote in them. They were designed by a cynical executive as a sop to the public. If they actually counted for anything then Mr Clarkson would be both PM and MFH.

From that site: Apart from the spelling error this raises the question: is that something like cruel and unusual punishment? If so, I'd recommend it to all courts.
