Not that Im feeling guilty about the omission of Patrick Moore this year due an "admin" error, but how about we nominate a reserve who instantly replaces any dead celebrities in the DeathList 50 and therefore at all times we have 50 people alive on the list? The forum now has a strong pool of DeathList talent so it can be used to select the new joiner. We pretty much have to have a reserve standing by at all times so they can be quickly brought into play when we have a success. Obviously at the moment Patrick Moore is itching to get on the list. The small downside is that there should be an improvement in the number of successes achieved compared to the existing rules - but frankly we need all the help we can get get near last years performance.

Reports in December were that the treatment was going well and that the doctors were optimistic of a full recovery, so that was good enough for him to be excluded from consideration for the list. His Twitter silence and no show at Ally Pally were a bit concerning but glad to see he has finally returned.

False alarm - It seems like the issue is now resolved so there should now be no chance of any outage - I cannot give the same confirmation for "outrage" though.
-
A few problems have arisen with the domain renewal which is due of Friday. It is possible deathlist.net may disappear for a while until it's sorted. Hopefully if there is any outage it will be just be for a day or so but you have been warned. Seasons greetings to all anyway GR

Due some imminent changes on the servers at the hosting company, I will soon (in the next hour or so) be upgrading the forum software. The forum will be offline (hopefully) for a short period while the upgrade gets done. After that there might need to be some adjustments before its running smoothly again. GR

The new rules can quickly become the old rules. If I recall correctly, the unwritten rules state that, if somebody is at the top of the list and is dropped for the next year, 26 nominees can be carried forward instead of 25. I don't think the rules say that the No.1 selection has to be dropped next year if he survives.

It wouldn't be the first time that Joe hasn't come out for the last round...

A minor word of warning that the hosting company is doing its upgrades from 11pm this evening. They suggest there should be no disruption but I guess there is a chance the whole site may go offline for a short while.

I have changed it back again now
-
OK I have changed it so the most recent posts now show first - makes more sense I guess

I can add a tag to a post if I made it but cant seem to do it on posts by other people. Maybe there is a setting I need to change somewhere. Edit: Tags can now be edited by Mods and Admins regardless of who made the post Further Edit: Damnit - it doesn't put the tag quite in the right place now that Topic Descriptions are back - It is supposed to appear in front of the Topic Title but I think the unsupported hack of Topic Descriptions messes it up.
-
The new version has a thing called Tags whereby posts can be classified according to a specific list of tags or (at the moment) anything can be entered. Perhaps it might be useful to have things like tags like "General", "Death Possibilities", "Dead" etc to help classify postings in the main forum? I think you have to edit the first post in a topic to be able to add a tag to an existing topic.

Yeah, this is my main grief w/the update. I agree - that is a pity - I hadn't noticed that that was missing. There appears to be lots of people on the Invision site wanting them back too and suggesting that an option should be added to allow them to be turned on. The semi-good news is that they are apparently still sitting in the database (but just not displayed at the moment) so maybe there is some hope that they can make a return when Invision releases the next update. Well it was actually easy to restore Topic Descriptions - although cost a few $$ to buy a bit of code to restore them. Hopefully they are back to their full glory now.

I'm not clear on the problem with posting links. http://deathlist.net It seems to work for me or is it a different problem?

Oops...Anechoic chamber restored
-
Not sure how, but if you look up 888-333 - his/her avatar still moves. OK I found a setting to switch animated avatars back on - I am not sure if it will restore lost animations. They may need to be re-uploaded... I think I have backups of all the old avatars but no simple way to match them to users which isn't too helpful. Edit: Actually I can track them down with some detective work but its a bit time consuming
-
I like the new style it did need a bit of an upgrade. I too like devondeathtrip would like to know if we can have moving avatars on this software? It appears that animated avatars are indeed no longer allowed by new forum software. There is no option to enable them (not at the moment anyway). That's progress for you...
-
I have added a new chat thing which is now part of the forum software. It's a free version so only allows 5 simultaneous users. Not sure if it's any good or not but can't argue with the price I guess!

The 'like' button doesn't work sadly Bou,,seemingly I have exceeded my quota of 'likes' for today despite not having hit it before... Like button works now (I think) - there was a setting that says how many times people can use it each day which was et to nil - strange default setting
-
It seems that this version only always one avatar whereas previously there people could have photos and an avatar. In the upgrade process it asked me to choose one of the other so I think the answer may be no. Its possible that the old image may still be stored somewhere. I'll investigate when I get the chance.

Upgrade now done. Clearly the banner needs a bit of work but hopefully it is basically working OK. GR

Has anyone else noticed that the TV listings keep misnaming that MTV UK show "Kerry Katona: Crazy in Love"? Nowhere can I see it listed under its proper name "Kerry Katona: Vile Human and Media Whore" - strange
