....although perhaps something like, '...were at the time part of a major military power', would give your post a little more gravitas, and make it sound less like a homoerotic fantasy Just a thought You boys and your macho avatars. -

In England I have 3 friends called Allcock, Badcock and Shufflebottom who suffer greatly but I think perhaps Butts wouldn't have the impact in Britain that it does in the States. Perhaps you should move. Here in France, the mere mention of Sean Connery brings a smile to most peoples' faces. Vladimir Putin also raises a titter. -

Welcome Mat. (sorry couldn't resist) Love the new avatar by the way LP7, although I did rather like the dishwasher. -

I might be revealing my complete lack of medical knowledge here, but surely there must be a closer place to insert. Maybe the Doctors got the bulges mixed up. -

Does this mean that the red clumpy shoes aren't selling?
-
What are you talking about? I'm glad you said that, I'd assumed that my confusion was attributable to that rather nice bottle of wine. I did read it through several times and I think that I almost understood it on a couple of occasions but then when I went back to check that I'd understood it, I didn't any more. Anyway, time for bed I think.

I really think you should, the following are rather gorgeous:
-
They could mean, "Brothel Creepers"... Perhaps it says 'free fan' - they appear to be including one with the boots, perhaps to cool them down after wear and thus prevent rotting.
-
These are a trifle clumpy don't you think?
-
I think this is the type of thing we're talking about Josco. The ones I coveted were similar but green and brown with an extra layer on the platforms - yeuch. Wouldn't they be a bit too ostentatious to slip through customs in? especially if they were a couple of sizes too big.
-
I love the word clumpiness, my Mum always used it in relation to the shoes I always wanted but was never allowed to have as a child.
-
Don't you mean Eileen, or is there an Elaine out there as well?
-
I think this is a message for Amanda. Either change your garments ie buy bigger jeans or go on a diet. Alternatively it might be something to do with Friday night and too much beer.

Congratulations from me too FF. Are you going to introduce Mrs FF to the joys of the Deathlist? -
It is isn't it.

Is that you Weatherman?

I quite liked Mark Thomas's comment on the subject of guns: 'If guns don't kill people, why does the Ministry of Defence give them to the British army? Surely, we'd be better off arming our troops with jellyfish and catapults'.

10/10 I think I should probably be ashamed to say. In my defence I did get two educated guesses right. -
So do you really mean 'less'? ..or 'fewer'? Yes you're right - it should be fewer (but not necessarily the right) words. Oh, and before anyone else in pedants' corner notices, I missed an apostrophe as well.

It is assumed that the Protestant majority in Ulster would vote to remain part of the United Kingdom. They (the Protestants) will remain the majority until the Catholics eventually outbreed them. When there is a Catholic (mainly nationalist) majority a united Ireland will surely follow. -
Honez, with all this multiple name stuff, I can't help wondering who 'the Ghost of Christmas Future' was.

I'm sure that as you type you just imagine all of us leafing through our dictionaries. Erotesis! What sort of word is that? It's a word which concisely explains what would otherwise have taken a whole paragraph. I think its generally the case that the more words you know, the less you need My question was erotetic Slave to the Grave. Are you sure?

Karl Marx may well of said that, but Francois Marie Arouet Voltaire said, 'Si Dieu n'existant pas, il faudrait l'inventer', (if God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent Him'), long before old Karl was born.
