Michael Aspel might see Eamonn Holmes out, he's back on Boom Radio this Christmas answering listener's questions, looking fairly chipper for a guy facing his 92nd birthday in a few weeks

Aye, how very Gormless (heh heh) of us!

Absolute curve ball in dead pooling terms, the new bosses of Syria plan to name the torture kings of the previous regime, very helpful for dead poolers to get the spellings right from the start! The ensuing dispensement of justice may well be the closest we get to a real life Hunger Games, or summat, and all thoughtfully timed for the opening of most of the main dead pools! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cj90138ejrdt

Ooohhh, that'll feel a bit cold after Syria

it's Yoko we're talking about, however hideous that scenario doubtless the family could defend it as an art installation in her longstanding tradition ("it's what she always wanted" etc.)

I've already had sniffs from two different firms who make revolving doors

Local paper does him justice, for those unfortunate enough to lack Cumbrian heritage that'll be "fatthher" Eddie (i.e., "father" with an emphasis on drawing out the middle of the word). His son, Edward, was always known as Edward in the company. https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/24771771.eddie-stobart-founder-titular-haulage-firm-dies-95/?fbclid=IwY2xjawG_xApleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHdItWSwPEfjS3rTiMjgBVYlxAvcrmSyvaLlO_vijn6WcB1ApfyJblHw2aQ_aem_sPW_khacpHqm7Ew_E8n1zw

No particular reason to suspect imminent death but I realised recently that 'Steady' Eddie Stobart, as in the guy that founded the company, is 80 this year. It's his name on the trucks though it was his son - always known as Edward - who made the company a massive success, and Edward sold out several years ago to his brother William and William's business partner Andrew Tinkler.

To be fair the real story here is the rise and rise of Reform - Politico poll of pools taking in period from just before the election to today. This is - likely as not - a recipe for chaos with many candidates capable of squeezing in to unikely seats as other parties split votes that would traditionally have elected either Labour or Tories. Still, probably, more likely that such behaviour is a danger to Conservative seats, those places where people vote against Tories have a good awareness of which candidate would most likely win on the back of such tactical voting. -
Yeah, run if for a season - then we could find a sponsor, get TV coverage and the like

They'll use AI and replace him with a bucket of shit! Take the programme upmarket

@Grim Up North totally respect your decision and wish you well in all your choices, also hope the meds are exactly what your wife needs. It's been a pleasure posting alongside you over so many years, go well

Just seen a tribute posted online where Forteans meet to Dr Peter Fenwick - one of those highly esteemed medical types who veered into territory some would regard as paranormal Been dead since 22 November so he's likely had time to figure out how many of his earthly questions are now answered from wherever he finds himself today

To be fair, I saw someone jesting on Facebook about a win/win option - Farmyard Masterchef, wherein our Greg cooks for farmyard animals and the like, pulls his faces as he samples the food and gets surrounded by young females every week, but isn't allowed any with only two feet! He stays on telly, the cancel-him crowd see justice being done, an absolute ratings winner, frankly

Masterchef is going ahead tonight since the thoughtful BBC have cited its vital role in fulfilling the wishes of contestants etc. Greg Wallace's alleged crimes include possession of an ego way beyond the abilities of his intelligence to sustain it so suicide risk minimal I'd say, even if he is cancelled on a wide scale

Bob Bryar, drummer with My Chemical Romance might be Bob Dier soon. He shrugged off the burns suffered making the most recent video, he's finding it harder to shrug off the gangrene that resulted, especially since it's gone into his blood making amputation of the infected a leg a futile gesture at this stage. Thought I'd flag this 'un up and let the mods merge it with the dead drummers thread if and when he's - like - dead.

Sunday Times front page this morning suggests Elon Musk is preparing to donate $100 million to Reform UK (throgh his X platform to get round rules about foreign investment directly into UK political parties). Point being - obviously - to ensure Reform win the next election. I predict nowt other than if this happens then this here thread will get even livelier! -

He made 112 and the package BBC News had pre-prepared on him included him being served a decent portion of fish and chips in his care home All the excuse I need to head out to the chippie over the weekend!

Aye, a timely reminder that the film director turns 85 next year, looks like shit and remains a shoo-in for liberal leaning broadsheet obits -

Philip Glass and Godfrey Reggio a few weeks back - well, either that or Simon and Garfunkel's homeless twin brothers! -
Was just Googling Beatle related stuff and there's no mention of the death of Pauline Stone, previously Pauline Lennon when she married John's dad (around 36 years her senior). She had two kids with him and remarried after he died in 1976. Likely to get some mention in the press as and when, unless anyone knows of a death link anywhere. She'll be 76 if she's still with us.
