You're taking the piss. I only wish I was. Mercifully long deleted and unavailable anywhere at the moment.

    Bloody Fireworks!

Mt Tumbledown for me, although I'm not afflicted with the nervous reactions some ex-squaddies mention. Mainly because the Argentinian artillery, such as it was, didn't sound as loud as fireworks so there's no deja vu around this time of year. Maybe if people let off fireworks and threw a handful of peat.....

    DL Members' Secrets

Where do we draw the line with that logic. Do the people selling tickets to Graceland advertise it as a big house and ignore the guy who used to live there?

    Vera Lynn

If you count artistic death I don't think her career has ever recovered from the execrable Dame Vera Lynn in Nashville around the late seventies.

    Suharto

None of the above have pulled off the medical miracle of Ernest Saunders - who had his fingers in the Guinness till a few years back. Saunders was looking at a jail term when his lawyers managed to convince the court their man was showing unmistakable signs of early Alzheimers. He got off lightly and still - apparantly - has most of his wits about him today.

    Titanic Survivors

Looking at these spring chickens - none of them in treble figures - I feel compelled to call off my unofficial competition between the Titanic and WW1 survivors. The old soldiers might number one more but they're a decade ahead of this lot age wise. Then again, how about a Celebrity Big Brother style show, these three and the four old soldiers. Geriatric bonking in the jacuzzi followed by sitting around talking about the old days of gas lights and diptheria. All with the added spice that a contestant might suffer a fatal heart attack at any second. It's a winner I tell you.

    Brooke Astor

Curses, another couple of days and she still breathes. Must be all the good karma from those philanthropic acts. But even karma runs out eventually. Astor: Die! Die! Die!

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

Thatcher is just about pig headed enough to do something as stupid again. I mean, Jeffrey Archer - despite the Cambridge education - seemed unable to learn from his mistakes.

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

Damn shame Mark Thatcher never went. i - He bloody deserved to. ii - It would have drawn the rest of the world's attention to the grim realities of prison life in Equatorial Guinea.

    John Mills

I would buy a sick bag in case it turned up on the radio unexpectedly.

How long - d'you think - before his grandson Crispin attempts to revive a stalled pop career with a song about his recently deceased grandad?

    Olivia De Havilland

Am I imaging it or did she turn up as the final guest when Russell Harty was on This is Your Life and end the show by snogging him full on the lips. Almost too bizarre for words that moment, so maybe I did imagine it.

    David Blunkett

I doubt he'll die anytime soon. He's too much of an egotist. Then again, maybe he'll take ill advised high profile work just to stay in the public eye. You know, like the 'Star in the Reasonably Priced Car' item on Top Gear. Wouldn't want to be a cameraman on that day.

    Richard O'Sullivan

I'd struggle with the TV shows too but Adam made more and higher profile movies than Dickie. Frankly, if you put the pair of them in a forest and filmed the results my guess is the trees would come over as more convincing actors. So comparing Dickie and Adam as actors is like asking whether Torquay United will beat Rushden and Diamonds. Still think Adam's moments - like Jubiliee - beat Richard's best.

    Brooke Astor

Agreed but she's in some unhealthy company amongst the 38 others still breathing. I'll admit my choice was conservative because I simply the picked the oldest of a very old crowd. C'mon Astor - DIE! DIE! DIE!

    Best Dead

Lilian Board - UK 800 metres runner - died of cancer aged about 22. Steve Prefontaine - US athlete hotly fancied for a long distance medal at the 76 Montreal Olympics died in a car crash 1975. Had a belated and totally spurious late blast of fame when 118 118 lied through their teeth claiming the adverts - obviously based on David Bedford - were really based on Prefontaine. Gunnar Nilsen, formula 1 driver died of cancer in his twenties. Mark Vivien Fo - 28 year old footballer died of a heart attack on the pitch a couple of years back. Not to mention all the racing drivers who crashed, motorcyclists who fell off and horses that came down hard and got shot a few minutes later. That's why I watch sport on telly!

BROOKE ASTOR - DIE! DIE! DIE! Cos I've got you bagged as number 12 this year on the DL Forum.

I couldn't find anything on the web about HIM running for mayor. I did find something about him as running mate for Alice Green of the Green Party. BEGGING THE QUESTION, did he join this party before or after his leg turned green and got lopped off?

    Richard O'Sullivan

I remembered Jubilee with Toyah amongst others and - if memory serves me rightly - Buckingham Palace turned into a recording studio. # I'd forgotten his appearance in Cyber Bandits with Martin Kemp, a movie so bad I took it back to Blockbusters unwatched beyond about 20 minutes. Despite this, Mr Ant's acting career pisses on Dickie O, no question.

    Richard O'Sullivan

C'mon guys: the debate is begging itself. Who is the better actor, Adam Ant or Dickie O? I'd give it to Adam, great videos and pretty good - as I recall - in at least one of the movies he made in the USA. Something I don't think Dickie O ever achieved.

    The Poseidon Adventure Cast

Leslie Nielson is 79! Hanging together well for that old. Doubt he'll be a contender in 2006.

    Al Lewis

I think the leg was already gone before he started on the campaign trail. Can you 'run' for mayor with one leg?

    Stan Richards

He was only two years older than Bill Roache! That's smoking for yer.
