People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Interesting times re Roy Battersby on Wikipedia Everything is "was" including his marriage which ended in 2024, but currently no date of death or citing of source confirming it - likely imminent, then https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Battersby

    Sven-Göran Eriksson

True, Jock Stein was only 62 when he went!

    Deathrace 2024

20/20 hindsight, eh? Either way, you're in the four figure scores. I'm not premature enough to award Battersby points without a q/o though there's enough discussion hereabouts that's already buried the man. If and when only Wannamaker in the top seven has him. The Chequered Flag

Racing motorbikes and smoking spliffs - am I being a bit ignorant here or is that a very inadvisable combination? Apart from owt else, anyone with impaired reactions at the first corner of a two-wheeler race is an absolute liability, right?

    Life In Prison

So seeing the posts about Sven reminded me 64 year corpulent fraudster Russell King - whose crimes included the fraudulent takeover of Notts County, at which point he installed Sven as manager and brought in talent incl Kasper Scmeichel and Sol Campbell - was released from jail in Jersey in 2021. I'm assuming he's struggling to get anything like a working life restarted given the fact his many dodgy deals have been exposed now. Also thinking he was so fat his trial was impacted by his immobility. So famous enough for a q/o and ill enough to be in our sites at 64 years old. Struggling to see owt online indicating his current whereabouts or what - if anything - he's up to. Anyone know owt? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_King_(fraudster)

    Sven-Göran Eriksson

Only just seen this - there's a superb podcast series, best moments are the times they talk to eye-witnesses like the former non league defender at County who finds Sol Campbell's car parked next to his or the moment Sven discusses North Korean football officials trying to tap him up to use his FIFA connections to help them. An interesting point - the die-hard Tory press aren't doing what they did in 1997 and giving into the inevitable. There's far too much political capital burned in favour of Brexit, Truss, Boris and sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. We could be months away from them ranting in support of an imploding opposition who snagged their lowest ever vote. Interesting times and that, eh?

FFS - that tells you everything about shoehorning this management into the current working weeks. On it! Get your dedication - but anything involving the placing of a pillow on Wayne Eddy's face is instant disqualification, you get that, right?

Thanks - may well have to get myself this. Middle of the Road were working class Scots one and all, not that surprising!

    Hartlepool Deadlypool 2023

Aye, great dead pooling gcr - the only consolation for the rest of being that a few favoured 2023 picks - Whale, Irwin and the like - made 2024 selections easier!

Is it possible the voice recognition software misheard Herbert when he said Schumi could "shit" at the table?

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

Was just trawling obits for the man - he's hit the woefully low standards of Deathrace q/o and helped one team cash in a joker, seen nowt of DDP worthiness yet.

    Deathrace 2024

So, we Khan do it (heh heh) I mean, we can proceed from here on in by only updating a leaderboard for competitors with four figure scores - livening up, I'm planning a weekend break in ten days - thinking we could have a winner by then. For die-hard form watchers the top six include half of the half dozen with cashed in jokers (Banana and Caleb cashed in on Derek Draper and Wannamaker just hit paydirt with Khan today). LizLemon still leads the pack with Jimmy Carter as joker (along with loads of the rest of us) An Fear Beag is awaiting the double point demise of Wayne Eddy and Sideik slam dunks double points assuming 112-year-old environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka turns herself to something recyclable. Somewhat less exciting than the recent darts, I'll admit, but tension is mildly mounting. LizLemon - 1091 CalebH - 1088 An Fear Beag - 1087 Banana - 1084 Sideik - 1082 Wannamaker - 1079

You're assuming right - neither does this as far as I can see, I'm assuming - given the standard of the journalism - the editor is an AI bot. But, he'll likely qualify soon enough: https://www.llanelliherald.com/15208/bruce-wilkoff-obituary-and-death-cause-what-happened-to-bruce-wilkoff/

    Deathrace 2024

Okay gang, I'd clearly missed Caleb's joker and underdone the points - been a bit manic on the work front this week. Should have the new leaderboard done by late tonight including a rash of persons into four figures, can't see this going too much longer so the real tension is whether we'll have a winner whilst Jimmy Carter still has a heartbeat.

    The Dead of 2024

Aye, posted elsewhere about that - some statto who is better than the rest of us could likely tell us what the implications of that hit-rate are. In other words, at what hour of what summer day would we run out of deaths if they kept carking off the DL at this rate?

    The 4th Death of 2024

Carter hasn't seen such constantly high poll ratings since 1976 He's got my vote for the third time - which likely means we'll wake up tomorrow to discover Joe Bugner's dead

Cheers for your selfless efforts to keep me informed Arghton I can now inform you that you're in the chasing pack - everyone with more than one hit now looks like this: LizLemon - 1131 An Fear Beag - 729 Banana - 726 CalebH - 726 Captain Chorizo - 725 The Immortal - 725 Sideik - 724 Imelda - 723 Arghton - 722 The Immortal - 722

    Deathrace 2024

Updated on the assumtion Franz Beckenbaur died today - not that his death (only two teams/no jokers) has greatly shaken anything up. I'll tweak the points if it turns out he's been dead longer

    Deathrace 2024

Joe Doering in play - you're down to one sub (Roberta Flack) from the four fielded. Had we started a week earlier you might already have won!

Oh aye, and the distinctive looking Paul Maynard - currently pensions minister - is also in the kind of shit that prompts by-elections for misuse of taxpayer's money. Even one of his own workers is angling for him to have the whip removed. The man occupies a marginal seat, Conservative gain in 2010 for him and increasingly higher percentage of the vote each time out since that but still Labour within 10,000 votes of him, everyone else nowhere and Reform a shoo-in to stand if a by-election gets called, at this rate we may have a general election by defualt before Sunak gets the chance to call one. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/jan/06/pm-urged-to-suspend-whip-from-pensions-minister-accused-of-misusing-taxpayer-funds

Peter Bone's girlfriend is the Tory candidate to replace him. There were a range of rumours about this. not least that Bone - who took the seat from a majority just under 700 to a 16,000 majority four years ago - threatened to stand as an independent if the Tories didn't select her. Either way, still a tough fight here, Labour clear second and Lib Dems on 7.9% last time out. So, add Reform UK contesting the seat for the first time and Lib Dem tactical voting against the Tories and this one could easily be lost. Link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67905750
