It does sound kind of cheap to put people on who are sentenced to death...however, in the US at least, it can take years to finally put someone to death after their conviction. Also with ever changing views, death penalties can be struck down and you end up with Charles Manson in prison for life. I'll be putting all 3 on my list, just cause I'm sick of never getting a lot of hits and I'd like to have some "sure things". But I agree that Saddam will only be remembered...the other two will be like the two guys who died with Jesus on the crosses...no one remembers their names either....not that I'm comparing these two cases in any way...ok, I'm rambling, damn excedrin.

you win a special prize for prediction of the year I think! I notice that its a decade since the deathlist count ended the year in an odd number ,so now that Gerald Fords demise has made it 13,I confidently predict a 14th hit by new years eve-I'm going to go out ona limb and say Michael Foot will be the one Seriously! I bet that's the first "called shot" in DDP history. DDP should think about that as an extra scoring bonus for 2008....you pick the exact date and get like 20 bonus pts or something.

Hey, I was just wondering if there were any USA-run death pools that were worth joining for next year? I really like this pool, but I have to say I don't know half the celebrities some people have chosen because of their locality in G.B. Plus a lot of the people I chose and ones I would have liked to choose might not show up on any of the BBC outlets. I mean Bob Denver just died, does anyone on the East side of the Atlantic know who he is?? I know a large portion of the celebs chosen are from the US, but they are mostly Politicians and well known movie celebs, I'd like to choose obscure people like, the guy who played Eddie Munster or something. Also, was wondering if anyone would be interested in hosting a US DDP site or if I created one, would be enough people to join it to make in interesting? Puzlman

It's hard to accurately figure out how many are still living because of the large number of countries involved.... Allies: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, France, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, G.B., US, Axis: Austro-Hungary, Bulgaria, German Empire, Ottoman Empire. Here's some figures I found though.... According to the US Veterans Admin, there is an estimated 100 to 500 or so Americans WWI Vets living. According to an article I saw online, in 2001 there were approx. 250 French WWI Vets living. So that's gone down. As of 2003, there are 33 living WWI Vets from Great Britain. Dunno if that's changed at all, but I'm sure it's gone down a couple. It seems that Australia has 4 WWI Vets still living. Canada have only a "handful" left, whatever that means. That's all I could find online. Puzlman

Ossie Davis, an African-American actor died. Not sure how many of you "Eastside of the Pond" people know him, but he was a really good actor. He was just a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors. Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia....iki/Ossie_Davis Imdb.com http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001115/ So I guess he along with Schmeling makes 2 deaths today....when's the third gonna drop? Puzlman

I'm new to the forum, found it by accident, but oh well, thought it was a great idea....Anyways, I feel like I'm at a little disadvantage here because I'm from America. While I think some celebrities are equally popular across the globe, I feel I have to change some of my picks for 2005 cause they probably wouldn't show up in Brit papers. But, c'est la vie, I'll trudge on and hopefully I'll be able to compete with you all. Good luck. The Puzlman
