Coronavirus death toll 2020

Those words of yours nails to the floor the idea that you really don't know how this place works and don't know the people who regularly frequent it. Give it time. -
Coronavirus death toll 2020
Lord Fellatio Nelson replied to paddyfool's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I am not denying the potential for this virus to kill more than 100,000 people globally. I am also not denying that it could end up being way more than 100,000 too. I am just saying that we are, almost, licking our lips every time the body count goes up. It still hasn't killed more than 1% of any individual nations citizens, as yet. It may not end up doing it either. We are speculating, which is dangerous really. I am certainly more concerned about it than I was, the doctors are now saying that it is more a form of pneumonia than flu. I am 'social distancing' from people and not putting my hands near my face, it never bothered me before but now? Yes. We need to dampen the hysteria and the Government needs to have a national two week lock down pronto. It would help! -

They were Toastie, I was just referring to the loss of life from two individual natural disasters, from different parts of the world, that are still considerably more than the current global figure. Er, if you see what I mean. -

Yes it could but hat would be a global tally. The quake and the Tsunami killed those numbers from individual nations. -

In the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, over 160,000 people died. That is a conservative estimate. So far, depending on source, the global total of corona virus dead is under 12,000. That is a REALITY! Yes, we are worried, we have to be, nobody ( I assume) has been through this kind of shit before. It looks bad because it is bad BUT it is killing a very very, tiny percentage of the worlds population. -
Fucking hell, Kenny Loggins outguns Dionne Warwick. The world really has gone to shit.

This could do with being binned. I cannot be the only one getting royally fucked off with Corona Virus this and Corona Virus that. Three fucking years of Brexit bollocks and now we are going to have a year of Corona Virus bollocks. Lets have some threads that are NOT about it. Please. -
Well, at least you have your health, eh, Toastie.

Cannot have this thread without this song!

That hasn't been the narrative here. They have always pointed out that people with underlying health conditions were equally likely to die. AFAIK, all the people who have died here so far have had extreme age, low immunity or previous serious health issues. It would be unlikely that a fit and healthy adult would die here without the press getting hold of it and creating pandemonium. -

I would suspect that his impending death would be officially announced via the national and international press and media rather that from Fred Fuckface on Twatter. Just sayin, like. -

….but, on the other hand, he could have been a grumpy old bastard and the whole village attended the funeral to make sure that he was actually dead and that they would bury the bastard face down. It's possible! -
Coronavirus death toll 2020
Lord Fellatio Nelson replied to paddyfool's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Had an interesting message from a very close relative today, they work at a hospital. There were, in excess of, ONE HUNDRED empty beds at the hospital yesterday. They cannot recall a time when there were so many free beds. A&E had a total of two people attending yesterday for reasons unknown. How strange, given this crisis, that no fucker wants to trot down to A&E with a paper cut, boil on their arse or toothache. All of that talk of chronic underfunding of our NHS makes you consider just how many fuckwits out there consider themselves entitled to turn up at A&E with ailments that a GP or home rest could easily deal with. I doubt very much whether people are sitting at home nursing broken legs or summat. This crisis will have wide ranging repercussions, maybe one will be for our 'overstretched' A&E departments. Perhaps not having the piss taken out of them on a daily basis, with the realisation that throwing money at a problem that is the sole cause of feckless and thick cunts, is pretty obvious. We live in hope. -

Yeah, I spot a link. Italy, Spain and France have a more tactile society and frequently interact with older members of their families, even having more than two generations living under the same roof. This is something I subscribed to on an earlier post, which was ignored, because it doesn't fit the 'we are all fucking doomed' scenario. Culture, societal differences will always have an impact on how this virus spreads, if it did not then there would be no enforced isolation! Germany has always had a superb healthcare system, the elderly are very well looked after ( or they used to be when I lived there ) and, I would assume, their overall good health would make them less vulnerable to this virus than the elderly in other countries. Maybe. It is no more bollocks than some of the shite I have read, straw clutching has become a high class sport. -

Ok, I do get your point, some valid points there. I think the problem is fairly obvious. The Government has already committed to spending, if they have not already borrowed it , billions to throw at everything it can stick to. They got caught out big time, the budget could not have been presented at a worse time. Hindsight is marvellous! Now they have to borrow even more. The question they would have had is 'What if the money doesn't stop they economy crashing and burning? If It fails to stop us tanking, they will have a colossal debt to repay and an economy that cannot generate the funds to do it. The sensible way is to work out a manageable percentage that is workable if it all goes wrong As it's 15% of our GDP it will not completely hang us all if it doesn't work. Would 20% have been ok? 38%? Maybe but, honestly, people smarter than those without an economics degree will have done the calculations and worked out the risks. No, the money is not enough but we just have to have faith sometimes, hard as it is with Politicians. Maybe, as the money starts to kick into the economy, things will improve and we won't have to go down the destitute road. Hey, this is beyond Politics now, this is a Global alien Invasion by something we can't smell, see, hear blah blah. There are no Political points or rights and wrongs now. We are all in the shit together. -

They wouldn't. The economy is going to crash anyway so throwing money at the problem is a no brainer. If it can prop us all up till the worst is over then it is money well spent. Our customers are starting to cancel work, my son has 7 people to find work for every day, me included, and it is going to go all shit. No work, no money. Things are going to get very tough before they get better. -

Ok, you don't rate the governments actions so far. So what would YOU do to minimise the impact of this virus? Don't rattle out every other nations game plans, have a think and tell us what you would do. We can all be critical, with some justification at times, but this is new territory for a new generation. I also need to clarify my position. If I am confined to barracks for 2 weeks, I do not earn a fucking ha'penny. See, all those people and businesses that will get immediate SSP and help to pay for it all, are just part of the impending issues. There are a metric shit ton of self employed people like me out there so who the fuck is going to support me? Jimmy Tarbuck??!!! Not wholly thought through, is it. -
